[quote:e8ee74506f="DwightTheGreat"]Well, coz, you know what to do... again

Can you delete their accounts after they post this stuff, there are so many spam users.

Edit: far right, 2nd from bottom looks like it hurts![/quote:e8ee74506f]

NO. Sorry, but the most any modenator can do is delete their posts/threads. We have no administrative allowances.

If you see a spam thread, just ignore it and it will be deleted shortly. Until we're given admin abilities, or they upgrade to a new version of phpBB, or add 3rd party extra security options, that's all that can be done.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the work the modenators do on these forums. I'm sure there's a lot more to it than we realize. Thanks again.

Yeah, you guys should have some admin powers, you're way more active than they are, therefore you deserve it more, this site has more spam than an episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus!

There's usually one or two posts a day, yes.
But you missed the real big spam infiltration. It got so bad, both of us together couldn't take care of it. They'd post 30 new topics at the same time and they have to be deleted one at a time. (open thread, delete thread, go back to main page, click on 2nd spam thread, delete it, go back to main page....)

That's when the HITS Forums were created. We just got up and walked, basically. It was just too much. Then after multiple complaints, the admins stepped in and added a captcha plus maybe one or two additional tiny tweaks. This place needs to be updated to phpBB3 though. It's much harder to crack and more options for mods/admins so we can have more power without having all the power (which I suspect is the reason they can't give us admin powers now)

I've been to hits forum, didn't care to stay. I like these more... and I'm too lazy to move.

I never left. I was the one true-blue back-in-the-day resident forumer who didn't get up and leave.

I never really recovered though huh. Just look at my post count.

I have returned!

Apparent DOUBLE POST

Yeah, is there any way we can petition the actual Admins to give you guys these rights, or at least something like you mentioned? I'm on the forums at unusual hours (like 8:30am and thereabouts) and, while I reallyreally do appreciate the work you talented people do, I am sometimes dim-witted, and often jump at the chance of reading a new thread while at work (which is BORING) and click on it anyway. Then I feel dumb, and wish it wasnt possible for me to demonstrate my stupidity so easily.

So yeah, is there anything we can do to help you with this stuff? I'd be full willing to email someone or sign a petition, or both, or more.

We asked for it back when the major infiltration occurred. Didn't happen. (I don't blame them though. That's a lot of power for people you barely know)

I don't see a problem with trying again, however, I would like to wait until the website is re-done. They may take it upon themselves to take that opportunity to upgrade the forums then while theyre doing everything else. If the website's redone and there's no change here, then yes, we can try asking again. (remind us, or me at least)

Sounds good. Also, who is really in charge of the forums? I know the band has most of the control on the site, because they built the thing, but who do you really ask about this stuff? Because as it seems, the people from Quack had the power, but Quack doesnt own TH anymore, so yeah. Just curious.

So, in summation, if you need/want any backing for gaining rights to management when the time arrives, do not hesitate to ask!

I have helped run and set up boards before too, so I guess I can help in anything more technical too if something else happens. Not trying to push my way in at ALL, just putting the fact that I'm a computer science major out there for common knowledge just in case.
