Hey there, I have enjoyed every single one of tally hall's songs. My whole high school senior group loved it so much in fact that we sign it almost every day at lunch. it may sound funky but its really fun to see the faces of the passing students.

Anyways, i wanted to (eventually) bring my guitar and play the song. i dont know exactly how well it would sound just on guitar, and im a beginner but i have been attempting to figure out the chords on my own. so far my work has been in vein, i was wondering if anyone would be able to give me some pointers as to what the chords are Smiler.

I just like goofing off with my friends , i thought that accompanying it with a good ol' fasioned guitar would make it much more enjoyable.

thanks!

I don't play guitar, but I'm a music major, and from what I can tell the entire song is I, IV and V, which would be D, G and A major respectively, so that the beginning would go... D D D A A A D D D A A A D D G D A D G D A D and so on. I will listen again to be sure there are no other chords in the accompaniment (there are vocal harmonies, but I'd assume you wouldn't need to play those)...

ah, yes... It's 9:00, and it's getting dark includes some chromatic passing chords, which sound vaguely like D9, E-flat7 and then just E before the A on "sky," and then I don't think it does anything else. Actual people who play this stuff, help me out here?

Yep, that's it. Conveniently simple, although it sounds nothing like the recording, cause they do all kinds of fun arpeggiation and stuff. However, let there be born a movement of grassroots Banana Man guitar-versions! I would sing with you.

[spoken] Ladies and Gentlemen, curl PT Chester with boys are proud to present Bumbo Chumbo and the Zimbabwe Songbirds!

D
Do you see banana man

D A
Hopping over on the white hot sand

A
Here he come with some for me

Freshly taken from banana tree

(1,2,3,4)
D
Banana man me want a tan

A
Give me double on the bonus one

D
Dis banana flow never end

G D
Do you want a banana?

A D
Peel it down and go mm mm mm mm

G D
Do you want a banana?

A D
Dis banana for you

D
Tonight we dance around the flame

A
Then we get to play the spirit game

Spirit names we shout out loud

D
Shake the thunder from the spirit cloud

Morning songbirds in the tree

A
Chant a tune to let the spirits free

Then we see them in the night

D
Spirits jumpin by the fire light

G D
Do you want a banana? (Do you want a banana)

A D
Peel it down and go mm mm mm mm

G
Do you want a banana? (Do you want a banana)

A D
Dis banana for you

D A
Try to make a little fun

Continue D and A as before
(ah huh ah huh ah huh ah huh ah huh ah huh ah huh)

(I think you get the point from now on. Here are the rest of the lyrics…)
Look you come to the bungalo
Africans you tell me dont you so
Dont you love the pumping of the drum
Make you shake until the bum go numb
Let the bungo play you till you drop
Dis banana never stop (never stop, never stop)

Forget all your troubles and go with the flow
Forget about whatever you may never know
Like whether whatever you are doing is whatever you should and whether anything you do is every really any good
And then Forget about banana when it sticks in your throat
And when they make you wanna bellow but your stuck in a choke and you forget about the yell from the colorful men that'll make you take another and make a mock of your plan

Bungale Bungalo make up your mind and tell me no ummmm shhh

Well its nine o'clock and its getting dark
and the sun is falling from the sky
I've never left so early and you may wonder why
*whistle*

Tomorow morning on the plane
No banana make you go insane
Floating back to busy town
No banana make you want to frown

Do you want a banana? (Do you want a banana)
Peel it down and go mm mm mm mm
Do you want a banana?
Dis banana for
you

Only part i was off on, but it's understandable because that is where it starts to pick up and i lose track of it.

I'm massively happy i know what it is they say now.

alright so it starts off like this

(these are the same chords played by the piano)

G B C (you could also use Em, just alternate throughout) D G
G B C(Em) Cm G

then the verse

G B Em Cm G B C Cm
G B Em Cm G B C Cm
G D C C G B Em Bb D Eb
Bb Cm Eb Bb Cm Bb Eb C

it goes something like that, just try and muck around with it a bit, I should have the ACTUAL guitar parts soon. If you need some help with the chords, go here Jguitar chords
