Saw Sugar Ray (Mark McG) on TV yesterday who was yelling at a 20 year old kid who was near reporters. Got up in his face. I still like Sugar Ray's music but, as usual, I am typically disappointed in Hollywood rich snobs who drink too much, think too much of themselves, and who are blinded by their money and influence. I know you just want to fly.....sometimes I wish I had a flyswatter. This American soldier feels bad that I thought Mark was one of the good guys.

Actually, I've gotten the opportunity to meet Mark McGrath (a member of the 5 person band Sugar Ray, consisting also of Stan Frazier, Craig Bullock, Rodney Sheppard, and Murphy Karges).

He's a nice guy if you ever get the chance to meet him...in person. It also helps if you don't call his band names...I'm sure he's nicer to people when they don't do that...

And, generally it's not a good idea to believe everything you see on TV...

Another thing to take into consideration is this was many years ago. Mark and the other guys in the band have done a lot of growing up. It's understandable that when someone calls your band "Sugar Gay" you want to defend it. That's normal. To get up in someone's face and threaten bodily harm isn't quite normal, but at the time Mark was drinking and his senses were heightened. I think if I were drinking and someone yelled out something like that I think I'd have the same reaction. Like I said, though, that was a long time ago. Mark's been known in the past to be very rowdy as were all the guys in the band once upon a time. Thank goodness for aging and maturing. Peace, love and Schlitz Malt Liquor Bull! -Debbie

i've met a lot of rockstars i think... and mark is no doubt one of the nicest. you cant judge anyone by the edited footage you see on shows like that. from what i hear that kid was REALLY bothering mark and pretty much harrassing him.

all five members of this band have always been very humble and down to earth and appreciative of their fans.

Did Mark have many problems with alkohol in former times??

First off, yes that it true, that the kid was bothering Mark and calling him "Sugar Gay' and all that kind of stuff and I don't think anyone of us would have handles that well eirther and the kid was making alot of RUDE remarks to. I have the "Celebrity Uncensored" that this happened on and it shows what happened. Mark, as well as all the guys are VERY NICE. I have met them all and they are GREAT guys! Everyone has a bad day everyone once in awhile evern famous ones. And for anoyone to call them "rich snobs" because someone was bothering him and being very rude to him is alittle upfair I think. But, then again that is just my opinion.

That young guy was definetly provoking Mark by calling him "Sugar Gay" I think you would have reacted the same way if someone got up in your face calling you names. They just show the clip of Mark being rude back but they dont show how the whole thing started and kept going and then eventually Mark did walk away from him.

I heard an interview of Mark explaining what happened that night. He was coming out of a Oscar party and was being a gentlemen and walking Madonna to her car. This kid yelled out Sugar Gay and Mark said that hurt and he wasn't gonna take it. Mark threatened him with words but that was it. I think in the clip you see Mark kissing the guy on the forehead or cheek. I have 2 versions of it. I would of done the same thing drunk or not( and most of you know I will do it lol.) Nobody has the right to say that to anybody. I agree they are all nice down to earth guys. I've met them all.

I don´t understand why some people have a problem with seeing this clip!
I´ve seen the clip and first of all I have to say that I was really happy to see something about Mark on German TV!
And like most of you guys I can understand why he reacted that way!
But honestly for me it was more funny to see him yelling at this "poor" guy especially because of his freaking voice!
Can somenone please tell me why he sounded so strange? Was he drunk only?!

Edited footage, I agree. Under any situation, it would be very hard to react positively to the way that person treated Sugar Ray, oops I mean Mark.

Myself, along with many people here, have met all of the band several times, and realized what amazing people they really are. They have all gone out of their way for me, and I will never forget their kindness.

Actually I think he was way too easy on dude. He should have laid the little f*cker out! LOL

I agree Daphne! Then he really would have gotten a bum rap. Im sure he would have liked to.

It would be tough being a celeb and having to put up with crap like that. I couldn't do it. I'd be getting sued every week for knocking somebody out. LOL The media there filming that probably paid the guy to say that to Mark just to get something on him.

I would have reacted in the same way and you do see that he hasn't come back to defend himself becasue he knows that he is wrong.

Well I don't understand someone coming on this board just to say something as stupid as that about him. How would "serve my country" react if we were to make fun of him or her for whatever reason. You just don't go to a message board about a band or someone and start saying crap just to get a rise out of people. whatever

I was just gonna write that, he came on said his crap and left, didnt even come back to rebutt it or nothing. Hmmmmm, oh well, we voiced our opinions.

As for Serve My Country -- all I have to say is.......Match in the gas tank, boom boom! Just drop a bomb and leave, that's exactly what he did. He came in, made a stink, and left. I agree, if he had ever met the band or Mark for that matter, he (or she, I guess) would know that they are certainly not rich snobs but real and amazing people with feelings and opinions. We all know, words can hurt and/or anger in this case. All I have to say is -- go Mark! To know and meet you and the band, is to love you and your talents!

what funny is the kids taste in music is probly madonna, and whatever else mtv tells him to listen to.. i love people like that... not smart to develop ones own tastes..

or maybe he was saying "sugar gay????" as a soort of proposition?

we all are only human... even Mark!!
