Are they working on a studio cd as we speak with the intentions of a late/holiday release or do we have to wait till next year or more ?



I remember reading on this message board lasy year that they would have on this year !

From their more recent interviews, they've said that the "Best Of" CD is testing the waters. They want to see whether there's enough interest out there to justify a full album of new material.

So, basically if "Best Of" sells well, they might consider a new album.

Moral of the story: everybody help promote "The Best Of Sugar Ray"...

I read this too!!! So we can do something for it.....

so yeh sugar ray are done with ... they lack A LOT OF PROMOTION from their label and they have not had a video since well mr.bartender so sugar ray are done with and we can blame teh label for poor promotion...........to bad i would really liek to see sugar ray stick around, Ryan

Sugar Ray is not OVER!!!! They should have their new CD out by next year.

Yeah, that would be nice. When I said "everybody" help, that definitely included SR promotion. All our requesting can only do so much without some inside industry help from SR's own promotions people.

What ever happened to all those meet and greets that they were supposed to do and the extra tours dates? They haven't step foot in Chicago...

The commercials were good, but it'll take more than 2 weeks of ads to really promote a CD.

On the radio charts, it really hasn't been doing much at all. In spite our requests and in spite of the generally positive feedback I've read on the net about "Shot", stations seem hesitant to play it. I think we need help from SR promotion.

I don't know about sales charts.

A video would be ideal, though I don't know how expensive they are to produce. Probably very expensive, and it may be too late by now. The Today show performance would have also been VERY helpful...I hope they reschedule...

All I can recommend is that we do our part as fans, spreading the word and requesting "Shot". If we do our best, then...that's that. We've done our best. And, we will be able to feel good about that, regardless of what happens...

They should have released UTS and did a video for that. That would have been a perfect summer release. It's a much better song than the new release. Too late now with summer almost gone. The new one is ok, it's a cute fun little song, but I think it's lacking with the lyrics so maybe that's why radio isn't really wanting to play it.

This all makes me very sad...I feel like I'm doing all I can...I make requests but that doesn't work...I drove to NY for the Today show...I'm chattin' about the boys and the CD on-line and everywhere else...I'm buying the CD and giving it to everyone I know.

I'm trying to keep the faith, but I'm feeling very discouraged.

I don't understand my stations. They are always Sugar Ray friendly. I still hear their old songs on the radio. ISRGOWH was on the other day. But no Shot of Laughter. One station was trying to get a in studio interview with them and nothing. Yet they don't play their single. I only heard one interview with Mark on the phone through the internet when they were here. That is the one Mike posted on the website. What more can we do for them? Without the labels promotions were sunk I'm afraid. I never saw one commercial for the Best Of either.

Same here Cindy when I do actually talk to a DJ they say never heard it... duh... me neither thats why I am requesting it, one even said we only play the hits so I ask how can it be a hit if you never play it? I want to get a CD single and mail it to the station I mailed a copy I made but no luck yet

It would be sooooo hard if they wouldn´t release a new album, but I think we are doing what we can... anything more isn´t possible....

Atlantic has to do more....

I cannot understand that they don´t make a new video, but it´s very expensive. And I think that Atlantic is not believing in the success of SR and so they don´t like to give money for such things.....

These are lyrics from some current "hit" singles...and, I can't say I'm exactly blown away by their genius...some of them don't really make much sense...

I know, I know...artistic license, right?

I'm just saying that I'm not so sure "Shot" is totally outleagued by these other songs...

If Gwen Stefani or Coldplay released a song identical to "Shot" today, I'm confdent that it would have been a hit.

Good point. I have no idea. They make up for the lack of lyrics with music and vocals better than SR? Maybe Sugar Ray is jinxed or something? Maybe Mark and Craig have slept with all the DJs girlfriends or wives and they're getting them back by not playing the song? LOL

True but when you're lacking in one area, it's always good to make up for it another. Like when the lyrics are weak, you better make the music count... Maybe radio thinks Sugar Ray doesn't do that as well as these other artists? I'm just guessing. I think it's a pretty good song myself and if it had enough radio play could be a hit.
