Both songs kick ass, especially Missing Cleveland. November can't come quick enough. His voice sounds anything but shot. Ever think maybe that's just the vocal style he was going for on those particular songs?

Either his voice is shot, or the vocal effects he used suck.

Those songs are SHIT SHIT SHIT.

They've got some good stuff going for them, but the artistic part is completely missing. Scott can sing less on missing cleveland and save most for the chorus and it would make the song entirely better. It's not a bad song, I just think the instrumentation is wrong and the singing is wrong.

As far as I'm concerned with the artistic level of the music, missing cleveland might as well be sung by Good Charlotte and Paralysis is the equivalent of a waterlogged David Bowie... but worse.

Missing Cleveland I thought was alright. It sounds like the deeper track style that he had on Libertad (which makes sense since he hit the studio right after he left those morons, so he still had some of that style inside him).

Paralysis I thought was pretty good at first but didn't think too much of it. But by the end of the day I just had it stuck in my head (this was only after 2 listens) and going back to it I really love that song.

Anyone looking for an exact replica of 12BB has to realize that he's in a much different place than that time period. Mentally/spiritually/emotionally. PLUS he's added on new influences and has grown since way back when.

As for the voice, again that's the style he rolled out a lot with since Libertad. That doesn't mean he's lost anything. I think it's great still, and for anyone who saw the STP reunion shows knows he can still kick the crap out of the old vocals as well. Scott is like Chris Cornell in that his side/solo stuff is to get his crazier influences and artistic direction out there and break away from the cookie-cutter molds that come with the demand for every Velvet Revolver/Audioslave album. He's not out there doing it to make money or skyrocket his career.

Paralysis has me pumped! And I'm really interested to hear the lyrics to the album considering everything that was going on in his life when he hit the studio.

The more I listen to "Missing Cleveland" the more I like it. It's definitely starting to grow on me.

Bird, you would love any song Scott Weiland made, even if it were a special rendition of It's A Small World.

I'll throw my hat in the ring. Both "Missing Cleveland" and "Paralysis" sound too generic to me. I feel like 12BB was entirely unlike anything else that had been released at the time, and his voice worked very well with the music. I feel like this album is just missing the weird-artsy quality that was in 12BB. I agree that he seems to be keeping the Libertad sound, which worked in VR but I really dont care for it anywhere else. I guess the best way to sum it up is with a review I remember reading about 12BB, which said "Weiland is fascinated with sound" and the album had a "carnival-esque" quality about it. That weirdness and riskiness was what I loved about 12BB. Hopefully there's more of it here and we're just not hearing it yet.

Scott Weiland doesn't need to do another 12BB, but I would hope that he is a creative enough to do something just as unique and different as it was.

FYI, the new GNR CD drops on Nov. 23. I'm little annoyed by this considering, whether it's good or not, it will steal some of Scott's thunder.

What does Chinese Democracy have to do with Scott's new album? Steal his thunder? I doubt it.

I bought the presale reslease of the album from bestbuy.com. I am a huge fan of Scott! His album rocks and I think his solo work came out well.
