Roses in a vase of white
Bloodied by the thorns beside the leaves
That fall because my hand is
Pulling them hard as I can

Rob: It was more or less all the dialogue in season 2 of "Deadwood" that I didn't like. Maybe it wasn't that different from season 1, I don't know, but all the characters just seem to talk around subjects instead of being direct. A lot of their word usage was almost Shakespearaan with metaphors and all that, as well, for lack of a better comparison. And the F word seemed more prevalent in this latest batch of episodes that it seemed to be more out of habit rather than emphasis (the cursing seemed more for emphasis in season 1. But again, I might just be wrong on that), and the cursing was used so often that it seemed to interrupt the meat of the dialogue. It's not like I couldn't understand what was going on. I just didn't always understand what they were saying, and figured out what was going on by characters' demeanors and actions rather than words. Sometimes.

I liked it a lot. Don't know why I never saw it earlier.

hard to find Robert Altman film. It goes for over $40 on ebay. I've bid on it, didn't win. Then my bf had a classmate at UCB whose father owned Brewster McCloud. ohh yeah. So the kid made us a copy. moral of the story- not worth 40 bucks but worth seeking out. ..if you get it for free.

so far, so good. I still have an hour left.

I saw Yes in Toronto on Tuesday. Haven't collected my thoughts on that one yet.

I cannot wait to see Broken Flowers.

So far, Murderball is the best film of the year.

ohh yeah. . I saw the episode 1 of Extras. Line that made me laugh the most "make dodgeball 2?"

pretty cool. not the best bergman i've seen by a long shot, but it says a lot about his quality that it's still a fine movie. amazing acting all around, with a very stark visual style. the creepy, stunning ending sequence seems like a very clear precursor to eyes wide shut, though otherwise they're very different movies.

very slow, but also rather funny & overall pretty satisfying even if it sometimes rambled and dragged a bit. and elliot gould was great, of course.

also downloaded and watched the 2nd season of twin peaks. great TV. a few lame & unnecessary subplots and david's lynch's lessened involvement made it somewhat less consistent than the 1st season, but still so many great moments it'd be impossible to list them all.

haven't gotten to watch much of it yet. it's a film by Mike Gordon (phish) documenting Gov't Mule playing with 25 different bass players. everyone from flea, john entwhistle, les claypool, rocco prestia, phil lesh...it was done after allen woody died. ...i "play" the bass, so i'm enjoying it.

If you could pick an all star “most irritating band ever” (both in musical terms and if they held a press conference), what would the line up be?
Vocals: Bono
Lead Guitar: Dave Navarro
Rhythm Guitar & Backing Vocals (although he'd never admit they were
just backing vocals): Lenny Kravitz
Bass: Sting
Drums: Lars Ulrich
Backing Vocals & Dancing: Michael Stipe

And no, I didn't waste my money or my precious time on Ocean's 12 either...

It was okay. I found this bit of the review on allmovie amusing though.

quote:
the movie's relentless sense of entitlement mars that point, most especially in the film's questionable closing epigraph reading "For Our Daughters" — a curious choice for a film that introduces its main female character (played by Joan Allen) lying on her back in the midst of passionate intercourse.

Did they skip the 7 minutes just prior to the closing credits? It wasn't about that at all.

And this season of Six Feet Under. Really love that show.

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead
