I'm going to school for broadcasting and we were learning about copywriting. Heard there is some good money in it.

Now that I know about it, I can't listen to the radio without hearing crappy, lazy sh*t.

Started out a little tough, but once I got the hang of it, I kinda like writing little commercials.

there is potential for a lot of freelance work if you seek it out. and yes there is a lot of horrible stuff out there in print and media. unfortunately a lot of TV and radio stuff is written at a 5th grade level to appeal to the masses of morons. if you write intelligent copy it may get shot down because it's too good. if you start using 25 cent words people will have to run for the dictionary and the message of the ad will be lost. personally I hate most of the ad campaigns out there. Publix is a local chain of grocery stores in the southeast and they do a good job with their ad campaigns. I also like Mac's campaign with the 2 characters playing the role of Mac and PC. funny works in copy if it's just that but a lot of stuff tries too hard to be funny and it fails. in the end what matters most is if your target audience gets the point. if they talk about how entertaining your ad is at the water cooler but they don't remember what it's about you have failed as a copywriter.
