I went with the Mets. I guess now everyone will just say that the NY teams buy all the good players

Yeah, I think it is the Mets too. They were so bad last year and this year they should be a good 20 games better, even more if they sign Delgado.
Is it me, or does this new GM seem to only be going after hispanic players. ************************************************************ One of the greatest quotes of all time! =>"bipolarbear3, shut up. lovemachine97, shut up. leavin, shut up. i went with mariners. they scored the least runs in the league last year and they upgraded their offense big time. dont get me wrong they will score alot of runs this year if healthy but they still dont have pitching. mets come in a close second if they get sosa and or delgado

I think the White Sox will surprise alot of people this year. Their offense is still potent even without Lee and Ordonez, and their pitching staff is one of the best in baseball. The Mets will be the year's biggest flop. Beltran will crack under the pressure (for all the praise he is getting, the guy batted .265 last year) once he enters the city of New York. Imagine what will happen once he hits a slump and the media starts ragging on him. Martinez has been on his last legs for at least 2 years now. If they don't baby him like the Red Sox did, his ERA will skyrocket. If they get Sosa, they will assure themselves of one of the most dissapointing seasons in the past 20 years.

quote:first i would just like to say you must be a chisox fan because they lost about 70 home runs and 200 rbis.they also lost sandy alomar jr and jose valentin off the bench which is another 20 homers and some 60 rbis if not more. off the top of my head with pitching they have 3 good starters in buerle, garcia and john garland. they do have a good setup man in marte and a good closer in takatsu but thats about it. another thing is jermaine dye is a bum and overall he has not shown any sign of being a star. big mistake letting go ordonez and lee but scott posednik will be a great leadoff hitter projected chisox roster 1b-konerko,thomas 2b-willie harris ss-valdez,dranfeldt 3b-joe crede c-miguel olivo outfielders-everett,posednik,timo perez, joe borchard, ross gload, jamie burke dh-konerko,thomas honestly i wouldnt be scared of this lineup. the mets will get sosa and delgado and most likely trade floyd, cameron, piazza some way. they will be above 500 but thats about it. never know cause the national league so far this year is week 6/27 Pearl Jam 8/9 Virgin Mobile Festival |

Actually, Olivo has been gone for awhile; we have AJ Pierzynski at the helm now, which is a drastic improvement over their catcher situation of years past. They had a dominant offense last year even without Ordonez or Thomas in the lineup in the lineup for a good portion of the year. All indications are that Thomas is coming back healthy, so his addition will spark the offense. Our major problem has been an offense that can go for 16 runs one night and 2 the next. We could be shut down by any pitcher that could throw offspeed pitches decently. Now we have more contact hitters, and that will greatly benefit us. Also, we have Garcia, Buerhle, Garland, El Duque, and Contreras as our tabbed starting 5; that is nothing short of amazing compared with past Sox staffs. So compared to a few other Sox fans who are still pouting over losing Lee and Ordonez (who I hear is alot worse off than he is letting on) I am very upbeat about our chances. Crede has potential to be a dominant 3b, and if he can actually realize that offensive potential (I know its a tall order, but still) this offense will be scaring pitchers.

I really don't think the Mets are going to be good as people think they will. They overpaid big time for Beltran, who's numbers really aren't THAT impressive, in comparasin to his contract. Not to mention he's going from more of a hitters park in Houston to cavernous Shea. Pedro's so fragile these days it wouldn't surprise me if he misses part of the season with some kind of injury. I like both of those guys, but I don't think they're going to pan out the way the Mets think they will.
Yanks will tough to beat as they have improved. It'll be interesting to see how much Johnson has left in the tank. Red Sox made a big mistake with signing David Wells, IMO. He's never pitched well at Fenway and in the past Wells has always hated Boston and it's fans. I just don't see him panning out. Hopefully Clement won't crumble under the pressures of Boston, and I'm glad Varitek is back. I think my Brewers will be much improved. The signing of Damian Miller and the trade for Carlos Lee was huge for us. We have a good pitching staff and now some power in our lineup. Plus a catcher that can actually hit. It's going to be exciting. ---------------------------------- Bob Uecker on Wrigley Field: "They call it the friendly confines, there are guys in prison with friendlier confines than that." http://www.myspace.com/kretzl4 |

I voted for the Mets, but this year will turn out like every trade the Mets have made in the past. Bonilla, Vaughn, etc...

Uribe was not a free agent, so he remains with the ChiSox.
As for El Duque... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1952009 Also, Contreras pitched well for us last year (shockingly, even in a game vs. the Red Sox). ........................... As they take an eye for an eye until no one can see, we must stumble blindly forward, repeating history. |

I Don't know how the Yankees could let him go. He's good and cheap. Cheap = Good.

Anyone else salivating at the Schilling vs. Johnson matchup that will go down at some point during the season? Those are going to be some pitching duals.

Dont ever associate me as being an Orioles fan. Yankees yes, Orioles no.
I am a season ticket holder for the Nationals - I know they suck, but the stadium is close and the tickets were cheap. |

i hate to say it, but i think the yankees made the best moves. They needed pitching bad, and they got it in johnson, pavano, and wright. The Mets made a great move to get beltran, but I think that Pedro was a big mistake...he is on his way down. Mets won't make the playoffs. Period. Overall, I think the Mariners will be the most improved team by adding some hitting behind Ichiro.
