I've tried reading Gravity's Rainbow but I can't get into it. I've read a few of other Pynchon's books without a problem.

Glad it's not just me. What Pynchon book would you recommend I go for first?

A stop sign
A chance to clear my mind before the work day
Then a right turn
Is where I catch another glimpse of the highway

I got Grisham's latest, The Broker, in the mail today. Dunno when I'll start it though.

The first Pynchon book I've ever read was The Crying Lot of 49. I thought it was easier to understand to understand. I also read V. and Vineland. But I had a hard time understanding V. and Vineland.

I'm rereading my favorite book - A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. I first read it about 5 years ago, and I just randomly decided to read it again the other day. Mostly because I had no suggestions for any other good books to read.

I just finished Angela Carter's Nights at the Circus, and it was wonderfully humourous, and dark, and vivid, and just gorgeously hideous. Has anyone else read something by Carter?

-----------
Oh, that wasn’t what I meant to say at all
From where I’m sitting, rain
Falling against the lonely tenement
Has set my mind to wander
Into the windows of my lovers
They never know unless I write
This is no declaration, I just thought I’d let you know goodbye
Said the hero in the story
It is mightier than swords
I could kill you, sure
But I could only make you cry with these words

Rereading Slaugherhouse 5 and Catcher in the Rye, and reading Catch-22. I think when I finish these I'll stick with reading a book one at a time...
