So, I sit here tonight, thinking of ways to word the realization I’ve been coming to. And it really is just one giant game, except the fate of freedom is on the line. Does it have to be? No… but in the same way that a compelling force can coerce a man to put his own life on the line in a game of Russian roulette (sorry, I know that’s a complicated example), liberty is unjustifiably on the line in this stupid game of politics. On the one side, you have conservatives (socialists). On the other side, you have democrats (socialists). One side claims to be anti-socialism, pro-Constitution, yet at the same time they have no problem with corporate welfare, taxes spent on foreign wars, business regulation, donations to sketchy charities or projects, etc. On the other side, you have some democrats who in some cases actually claim to be neo-socialists, yet they still exploit the words of the Constitution for political gain - they have no problem with social welfare, business regulation, taxes spent on foreign wars, donations to sketchy charities and projects, etc. What is the real difference here?

Our money is still being stolen, and it’s still going to places I don’t want it to. My money going to the republicans is enacting prejudice fueled smear campaigns against homosexuals in order to ban gay state-marriage (this totally ignores the fact that the problem shows exactly what’s wrong with state marriage in the first place) - on the other hand, my money is going to abortion clinics and useless environmental research. Why?

Why does it have to be this way?

The only people who know that this is a game are the politicians themselves - the pundits do sometimes, but then you have the innocent goofs who fall for it, who buy the propaganda, who support John Kerry over George Bush or George Bush over John Kerry. What makes either of these candidates good? There is no “lesser of two evils” - there is only EVIL, and our social contingent, and probably you as well, define theft as evil, it defines murder as evil - yet our government uses force to enact both of these undoubtedly evil actions. And you support it. Why? The government claims it has a compelling interest - look deeper. What is that compelling interest?

Money. Power.

The politicians say they want to create a greater good, and that’s why they work for you. They want to use their powers for good. That just creates two problems: one, if all of these politicians want to create good in our world, then why the fuck have things been getting progressively worse since government lodged itself firmly in America’s ass in the 1960’s? Think of a good program that government has enacted in the past ten years. What problems did it solve - did it solve problems that government created in the first place? And did it REALLY even solve those problems, or did it just hide them a little better?

Don’t be a pawn like Andrew Sullivan, or like Michelle Malkin - don’t be a pawn like Bill O’ Reilly - you want to know how to win this game?

There’s only one way that you can be guaranteed to come out the moral victor, and there’s only one chance that you have to come out as the literal winner - and to earn that, there’s only one thing you have to do.

Just stop playing.

That’s all.

How so?

You seem to have a very pessimistic political viewpoint at the moment, which is conceivable considering the problems in Iraq and IMO the inauguration of Bush for a second term.

However, doing nothing means that everything will continue to progress in what you know to be an increasingly unhopeful situation, so that shouldn't be an option. It's not that you shouldn't play, it's just that you have to change the rules a little bit while being realistic about knowing what can be done an the moment. All the right things will happen in time.

P.S. Quit mixing Britney Spears and The Clash sicko.

Chef Boyardee is meaner stronger less susceptible to diease and more dominant than a male gorilla. He comes to me at night. Willfully opening the locks and bending the bars on my window. Costing me horrendous amounts of money in home burglary devices. He comes to me in my bedroom. Naked, shaved and oiled. Goosebumped thick black arm hairs risen off his skin. Standing in a pool of pizza grease. Barfing up flour. It enters my lungs. I cough. He laughs. He mounts me. I'd like to kick his hot-stinking, macho fuckin' ass.

Spawn Again was ravaged by wolves while walking through the woods on LSD, but he made sure this guy would take his place before his vocal box was torn from his throat.

My pessimistic viewpoint has nothing to do with Bush's inaguration - if Kerry was being inagurated it would suck just as much. What do you mean you shouldn't quit playing the game? It's impossible for you to become anything other than a pawn - and even if you want to become a player, I think that's even worse. The fact of the matter is that politicians, democrats or republicans, are all lying thieves and you're just a fish biting hook line and sinker for whatever meat they happen to dangle on a hook in front of you.

That's a collective you.

Apathy is boring. Throw your vote away on the libertarian party instead.

A stop sign
A chance to clear my mind before the work day
Then a right turn
Is where I catch another glimpse of the highway

If you aren't going to do anything to change the situation, spare us your complaints about the state of things. Whining never changed the world.

Um, I am doing things to change the situation - I'm not voting for assholes, and I'm making posts like this to get you to do the same. What else can I do, assassinate politicians? What the fuck do you want from me?

But you're a statist, so I totally expected you to take this the wrong way.

So, what's the right way to take it?

Are you saying that doing nothing is doing something? Because I gotta be honest, that makes very little sense to me. So you don't vote. Big stinking deal. That changes nothing.

Even if you get others not to vote, that still doesn't change anything. The politicians don't care if you (or I) vote. They will keep voting. The big CEOs and wealthy will keep voting. So basically what you are trying to do is silence the little guy and let the people who already have lots and lots of power keep that power and hey, maybe even get some more. Yeah, that'll start a revolution.

All I'm saying is apathy (which is essentially what you are advocating) accomplishes nothing.

What else can you do? You can at least try to make your voice heard. How? Through political action, through art, through the media. Become a journalist, start an activist group, write some inspiring satire that will light a fire under the masses.

But don't give up. If you give up, and stop voting then they win and you (we) lose. And don't say it can't be done. Look at Ghandi, or Martin Luther King, the anti-Vietnam movement. People change things. But not by being quiet.

That's just my idealist opinion.

you're in a 'fuck the world' phase obviously. most likely soon you'll realize it's not worth the energy to hate the ones that you think deserve hatred. doesn't mean it permanently stops.

certain characteristics of human beings will never change, they tend to just evolve and adapt to modern circumstances and forms of power.

I swear I could look at something a million times and not notice a mistake. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd actually use Word.

I didn't say not to vote anywhere - I'm saying vote libertarian. Where the hell did you get the idea I don't want people to vote?

I'm not in a "fuck the world" phase at all - I think it's really irresponsible for all of the "adults" on this board to just continue ignoring the obvious truth of what I'm saying. How can you all live with such undeveloped minds? It's not even that I'm arrogant - you really don't even care that you're just fucking pawns.

Do you realize how absolutely disgusting it is that you don't mind being played with and used to keep evil men in power?

For all of the bitching liberals on this board do about what's evil and what's not, no one at all here seems to care about what's really evil.

EDIT: And environmental research is stupid because it hasn't stopped a single 'evironmental problem' since we've started forcing businesses to abide by dumbass regulations - you want to know what pollution is such a big problem? It's because the fucking government lets people pollute government owned land!

Business owners have no reason to pollute their own property, but if the government doesn't care about taxpayer property ("public" property), then why should business owners?

actually I was saying this is a good way to approach life. politicians, whether they're republican, democrat or libertarian, are not my savior. I don't vote along party lines and I try to vote for the best of the worst based on the info available. until they ask me how to do things this is the only option out there. I don't think that makes me a pawn and as far as having an undeveloped mind I have a college degree which I actually earned. so na na na na!!!

we're not ignoring what you're saying.. we've just moved on.. you say you're doing something about it by posting here and encouraging us to do the same, but in reality that's not doing anything, now is it? try writing your state and local representatives or attending city council meetings.. sitting on your ass and posting your thoughts doesnt do much here because we've already been where you are except we're past the point of whinning and we're actually doing something about it. at least some of us are. research your state legislature's docket and write your representatives about the bills and your position on them..

guess where the most pollution comes from? cars and industry waste. explain more about the government allowing people to pollute government land. in my observations, we're pretty far behind compared to other countries in environmental research.. our politicians are still debating whether there are environmental issues while other countries have pulled their heads out of their asses.

Damn, I'm sorry, this takes the cake. You really are just incredibly stupid.

What else do you want me to do about this? What do you think "doing something" is? It's fucking activism - when people say they are "doing something" it means they are "doing something" to change people's minds - writing state legislature never changes anything because idiots like you keep electing politicians who don't want to do anything. I'm not whining about anything - I'm stating the injustice that's going on right now and you're seriously just too stupid to even understand what I'm saying.

Read The Great Libertarian Offer if you really have any interest in self-education.
