A literary twist on the theme: What is everyone reading??

This is the last of a trilogy by Libba Bray. A group of girls from turn of the century England in a prep school discover they can do fantastical things in another world. ooOOOooo .. Not a bad distraction from school.

If you are a younger person or an educator of young persons (my excuse) this might be a good read for you.

I finished Michael Crichton's "prey" a week & a half ago and have been picking through Lester Bangs' "Psychotic Reactions & Carburetor Dung" since then. My birthday is Thursday (3/27) so I'm hoping for a new Hunter S. Thompson, Kerouac or Kesey book.

and Action Girls, good pick on Zombie Survival Guide. Have you read World War Z? My boyfriend has both & I haven't read World War Z yet.

I'm in the process of reading Hamlet for English. I appreciate and respect Shakespeare but the only thing I've read by him that I genuinely enjoyed was A Midsummer Night's Dream.

I just read Getting Stoned with Savages: A Trip Through the Islands of Fiji and Vanuatu by J. Maarten Troost and Hardcore Zen: Punk Rock, Monster Movies, & the Truth about Reality by Brad Warner. both were good reads and if you're interested in travel in the South Pacific the former is a good choice. if you're interested in finding meaning in life and Buddhism the latter is an interesting read. I also read West of Jesus by Steven Kotler a few months ago and it's a worthwhile read as well.

The Omnivore's Dilemma. It basically explores diet choices in the U.S. and how obsessing over health and convenience perpetuates unhealthiness in the U.S.

Angel of Darkness - Caleb Carr.

Anyone else picking up good summer reading? I'm having a hard time with books keeping my interest.
