She's a woman. So no matter what unless another party other than rep. or dem. wins, this is going to be a historic win.

Yeah... interesting.
Anyone else find this a bit peculiar? You're not Christ, you're not Prince Hamlet, you're not even Ralph Nader! |

FUCK McCain and all of his BUSHit
10/10: STP!!! |

I like her. Obviously, not everyone is going to agree with all of her stances, and that's perfectly fine and good.
This is the first presidential ticket I am actually enthusiastic about. Both of them have the tendency to buck their party establishment many times. That's what we need, not people who blindly cling to their own party's ideology all of the time. Things are way too partisan now. |

No matter the election, the choice is always between tweedledee and tweedledumb.

*salutes* As much as I can't stand anything to do with the nazi, I mean, repub party, I do have to tip my hat to the choice from a strategic standpoint. It was brilliant, IMO. As close as the race is according to the polls, this was a move that was unexpected, out of the blue, and may very well mean the tipping point. *screams in sheer fucking horror* She did veto a state bill that would strike down benefits to same sex partners, which is as far as I know, the first time a naz..umm, repub has actually stood up for the issue. She's smart, energetic, young relatively speaking, and they may very well take some PUMA voters. It was a far better choice than the other side, some old white guy that NO one can identify with under the age of 65. Obama could've chosen Hillary and the discussion wouldn't mean diddley, however, because he squandered a layup, this choice has taken on far more importance. It'll be a cold day in hell before I'd ever vote for a naz...umm, repub, but for some unexplainable reason, there's millions of undecided voters out there. I think it was Abe Lincoln that said, "Never underestimate the stupidity of the American public" or something to that effect. I think Obama could've learned very well from that, but no, he didn't, and if he loses, he deserves to. Bitter? You're goddamn right I'm bitter. |

Oh yes, it was a brilliant move by McCain. It's not so much the stupidity of the American public as much as it is the unsophistication of the voting population. We'd see a lot more progression in government if the political system were an effective one, but it's not. The one good thing from this election is that it has really inspired a lot of people to partake in voting; however, the voting needs to extend far far beyond voting for VP and P. It needs to extend to the local level and our state representatives who actually have an influence on congress. So many people let this go.

This is just a desperate attempt to try and get Hillary supporters on his side. And it couldn't have been thought out because Palin is currently being investigated by the government.

Great pick by McCain. I was hoping for Romney but he needed to do something out of left field to keep himself in this thing. Palin will get female voters, and she has been known to be a maverick governor in Alaska, taking on the oil companies and corrupt politicians. I heard her husband had some kind of job at an oil company or something but he quit when she became Governor because he thought it was a conflict of interest. That's not something you would see in the Bush administration. She's also not a hypocrite on the abortion issue, she gave birth to a child with down's syndrome. She's just a great pick, she exemplifies John McCain's candidacy. His talk about reforming the Republican party isn't just rhetorical bullshit like Obama's "change."

it was a smooth move but a desperate one. if McCain gets in then we're stuck in the Middle East debacle for another 4-8 years. Obama obviously picked Biden to counteract the lack of experience label the opposition has given him. I don't know much about the guy but I saw a clip on the news about how he rides the rail to work and is in touch with the average Joe. I don't agree with some of Obama's ideology and I think he's a bit too idealistic with all the change and hope drivel but I am voting for him. we are truly screwed if McCain wins.

If it reassures anyone I think Ann Coulter will be voting for Obama....

OH what a effing hero!! haha I'm sorry but this is the most ludicrous reasoning! Her and many other people in the world. People usually have abortions because they don't want the child or there is a risk to the health of the mother or child. Down syndrome? Come on, you would have to have no heart at all if you were going to have an abortion over that. Though I don't underestimate the fact that someone might, there are for worse conditions than down syndrome. Most people see their child as a blessing whether disabled or not, and would choose not to have an abortion over something like that. hahaha You're not Christ, you're not Prince Hamlet, you're not even Ralph Nader! |
There are, but there aren't many. |
Yes I agree. Your disdain for the republican is just as strong as someone else's disdain for the democratic party. Here's a news flash though -they both suck and both candidates are bumbling idiots. Let's move on to something more meaningful and intelligent. You're not Christ, you're not Prince Hamlet, you're not even Ralph Nader! |
Yes true, but it's a bit different since a child with down syndrome most likely isn't conscious of the condition, therefore the issue of quality of life is questionable. Is what it comes down to a choice as to whether or not the parents want to dedicate their lives to taking care of the child? I don't know. But whether it is or isn't, I don't think the choice to give birth to a child that will have down syndrome is a moral question over abortion. You're not Christ, you're not Prince Hamlet, you're not even Ralph Nader! |
They are and they aren't. Some of them understand their condition however. Their quality of life isn't really phased, you are right, though it really comes down to not knowing what you're missing. Though their life expectancy is much lower, sometimes half. But yeah, I wasn't really trying to relate it to anyone's decision on abortion, just saying. |

how is that a good thing? Yea more people are going to vote, but the ones that are inactive usually are that way because they dont care or dont know shit. I would rather those people that are going to vote for McPalin because shes a bulldog with a pussy stay home, they dont know what the fuck is fuck and should move to mexico where their vote wouldnt matter, thats how it should be. Republicans are going to win regardless, its already close and they have experience in cheating. i wouldve voted for ron paul but ill change my party to vote for obama, that bitch skank is going to take mccains place as soon as he croaks which will probably be when he gets elected that fucking powder cake ----------------------------------------- Well I don't know but I've been told, you never slow down, you never grow old. I'm tired of screwin' up, tired of goin' down, Tired of myself, tired of this town |

Well I'm being optimistic. Hopefully it will make people vote in MORE types of elections that ultimately impact the presidential election. Unfortunately most people don't see the bigger picture of voting in more than just the presidential elections and will complain and bitch when their chosen political party doesn't win. There are tons of people sitting on the back burner who are interested in politics or would like to see a particular political party win but don't actually go out and vote. These same people then bitch and complain - though if you don't like the system then I can see why some people would not vote. But yes, I am optimistic and hold onto a hope that so many people will come out of that disdain and vote Republicans and "god's will" out of office.
