National Hurricane Center has Dolly just shy of a hurricane at their 11 AM update.
Dolly is getting much better organized very quickly from all indications on satellite and Brownsville radar. She appears to be undergoing rapid intensification, which is not all that rare for strong tropical storms and category-1 hurricanes. Once the eye circulation becomes somewhat established (typically at the intensities above), it can more effectively convert heat energy to higher wind speeds, and also the response time for intensification (and weakening) shortens. I would not be surprised if she becomes a cat-3 (major hurricane) in the relatively limited time before landfall.
The aftermath of hurricanes is by no means fun. Our thoughts and prayers will go out to south Texas and northern Mexico residents.
