Don't know how many of you honkeys are OLP fans but you should be. I got the first chance to see them in 10 years last night in Atlanta. They were incredible playing 5 or 6 songs from their new album, "Burn Burn", and a good spread off the other albums. The crowd was the most energetic crowd I"ve seen all year which includes 3 STP shows and a Weiland solo show(which was at the same venue). It's still early in the tour. If you get the chance, go. That show was nearly 1/2 the cost of Scott's show!!!! I would have gladly paid much much more for what I got.
They are here on Monday and I will probably go. I've seen them everytime they have hit DC since 1997 (first time I saw them was for $1.01). I love them and enjoy the new album a lot.
I think part of what made it better was that Raine is more of a people person than Scott, on stage at least. To each his own... He seemed to be genuinely impressed by the crowd's energy and appreciation, though it has been quite some time since they've been to Atlanta. Come back and let me know what you think Matt. I don't get to see as nearly as many shows as I want to and I wonder if I'm sort of wondering if I"m just in awe of that opportunity, if I was dreaming, or if it was really that good.
PS Who wants to contribute to the "Send a poor teacher to a Metallica concert fund"? They're finally coming to town and I'm out of luck
So I didn't make it to this show. I had way too much going on that day...hopefully they will do another round of shows. The setlists seemed really short on this tour too - I wonder why...
I found that odd too but not in the way I might have. they didn't play nearly as much from the new album as I anticipated when they were in Atlanta. It seemed about as long as an STP cash grab show.
