I think STP should release Only Dying on the next album and bring the band full circle. The song is from the Mighty Joe Young demos that were made before STP made Core.

The song was originally to be on the movie soundtrack for the motion picture The Crow that featured Brandon Lee. Unfortunatly Brandon Lee died durring the making of the film. STP pulled the song and replaced it with the song the Big Empty. which is another great song. But Only Dying was never released.

Some of the song was dissected and used in other STP songs. Which maybe the reason for it never being released. But I think that most of us STP fans would not care that it has a few parts of other songs in it. The song is just brilliant. I listened to the poor quality audio version of the Mighty Joe Young demo from Below Empty website. Anyways, I think it is time STP does a release of this wonderful song.

I first heard this song about 4-5 years ago, and instantly fell in love with it. I consider it to be one of their best songs.

But it probably shouldn't be on the new album, that should be all new stuff - but they could release their version of "Lost Dogs" like PJ did...

Come to think of it, they should also do a massive boxed set of all the 2008 shows on CD..

they should release this song. But release the 1994 version. Scott's voice now just won't do the song any justice.
