Palm muting is where you lay the pinky side/palm of your picking hand across the strings, close to where the strings meet the body of the guitar, you'll muffle the strings slightly but still be able to play. Palm muting is in the verses when the drums kick in. I know that's kind of a complicated explanation, but does it answer your question?
