Of course my fav is BTC...my least favorite use to be 14 SHades...but I had to put none of them on here...cuz my least favorite changed to The Illusion Of Progress. I tried...believe me, Staind have been my favorite band for the past 7 years. And I listened, and listened...and all though I do enjoy the album...it has to be their weakest and most disappointing effort by far. I'm sry. I still love the band, but I hope they pick it up on the next record.

For Real H, Dysfunction is a kickass album, but they are entitled to their opinion. Sucks but they are! lol.

I'm not shocked because of how good of an album it is, and they don't get it...
I'm shocked just because that and BTC are two albums that no one ever says is their least favorite, they are normally the 2 favorites. its not rare to see people say tormented, 14sog, chV (or tiop i guess) is their least fav...but tormented and btc is. i feel like im rambling so much today. i dont know what it is. ---------- I smoke the whole thing to my head, and feel it wash away. Eh, I should get all of my buddies to sign up on these boards so that I can assure you I'm not the only one who shows little interest in the Pre-BTC days of Staind. I absolutely respect those of you who cherish the stuff they put out prior to BTC, but it's simply not my cup of tea... that's all. I was actually the one who was shocked way back in '05 when I first signed up on these boards and everyone was praising Tormented/Dysfunction.... my friends gave me so much shit for purchasing those albums - but I have those two albums simply for collector's purposes... ya'know... to complete my Staind discography, not for listening purposes. I don't personally know anyone who likes Staind for their pre-BTC material (aside from those of you on here who I have met in person) -- mostly everyone I know claims BTC, or 14SOG, or Ch. V, or TIOP are their favorite albums, but never ever Torm/Dysf.
It's simply a difference of opinion. I'm certain that the very reasons why you choose to like Dysfunction are the exact same reasons why I dislike it. Mind you, this comes with a disclaimer.... Mudshovel is one of my favorite, if not my favorite track(s) by Staind. Home and Crawl claim spots on my top ten fav's as well. But the rest of the album has never grown on me, and I can say with confidence that it never will. Blah, now I'm rambling on too much, I'll stfu now. =) |

TOTALLY agreed! And, JD, I'm thinking it has something to do w/age, maybe...like, I ee so many now covet Nirvana and the like as if they were akin to Zeppelin, the Stones, or Aerosmith, which is just completely nuts to me. Were they good? Yes! Did they change music SOMEWHAT? Yes! But, they were NOWHERE near as good as the forefathers, not just because they weren't the forefathers, but musically way less...more like punk (a not very musically challenging genre). So, I'm guessing it's more of what came out when one was coming or already came of age musically, you know?
