Hey,
I just found this article. Aaron discusses the sound of the new album. http://www.fayobserver.com/print?id=294081&type=article (“The Illusion of Progress” will offer some blues flavors and Pink Floyd influences. “It’s probably the most musical record we’ve made,” Lewis said. “It’s not like any of our other albums.”) Pretty cool. i was somewhat dissapointed when aaron said they had they intentions of making the hardest album theyve ever made. but to know that they didnt do that because this came out of it must mean its good. but all the "musical" talk and opera singers kinda scare me. i wish they would do a double album. one "hard" and one "musical". i love aaron and will always support him. i love the softer musical side to staind. i know i will love it. its the anticipation that sucks

I don't think that "hard" and "musical" are mutually exclusive. Ideally the album would be hard and musical. I've seen some people talking about more guitar solos. That could very well be involved. Maybe they just got away from the clanking 2-note riffs, which would be a musical step. Blues and Pink Floyd influences could lend themselves to metal in some interesting ways.

there is nothing hard about pink floyd. haha. so if it has a pink floyd feel to it... "hard" isnt going to be a factor. but im sure it will be like chapt V with some softs songs, a hard song or 2, and some musical songs. but like ive always said, if they farted on a record it would be the most beautiful fart ive ever heard.
