I normally don't post my poetry online, but I figured I'd post something in here seeing's how I never have before. The title is a working title, please feel free to shoot any constructive criticism my way on either the title or the poem itself. Thanks!

The Forlorn Maverick (working title)

Somewhere along the spectrum of happiness and sadness
I somehow defied the known boundaries
And have entered a chamber of the unknown

Within the journey through this barren land
I crossed the borders no one ever dared to cross
And now I understand why this path was never taken

The trees all seem crooked
Trying to bend to the will of stubborn nature
And all of their limbs have broken

The rivers seem so shallow
Drained away at the heartfelt attempts
To please the desires of nature's creatures

And the birds just refuse to sing in this land
They realize just how disregarded their harmonies were
And decided to perish in the fading silence
of their last serenade.
