I am A 32 year old suburban housewife and have not listened to anything but lullabyes in six years. I got a nano for christmas and was able to experiment with what is "new" music to me. I was on itunes one day and saw "schizophrenic conversations". I downloaded it just because of the name. I was hooked because everything i was hearing i was either mentally living it or already had.

I have downloaded most of their songs. Today was actually the first time I ever searched the web for Staind. I was looking for concert tickets. I was amazed at how commercialized everthing on the "official website" is.

I feel a little duped.

Please do not eat me alive. I am not putting them down. I would just like to know from some true fans what Staind is about because I hate feeding money to "the man"

no they aren't sell outs...i see it as they have evolved over the years...matured...aaron lewis has two kids and a wife now and he's happier..so that is reflected in teh songwriting..but the next album is supposed to be heavier..

As you can see this website is far from commercial. In fact it's cheesey nothing works and tour dates keep disappearing by them selfs. Maybe you should read the board to learn more about the band. There are 1,000+ threads on here. You can even search with keywords. Last I checked that still worked haha.

Well i totally unerstand what ur saying i felt the same way , especially when i found out that you had to pay something like $35 for a year being a Dysfuntional member. But hey, don't listen to me, i got some dude cussing me out saying i'm not a true staind fan, but hey. Well i can tell you one thing, with regards to their music, it has in no way been sold out, commercially, well i dare not say. Taking into account their parent company is atlantic records, i think thats where the major comercialization comes from not really the band, but who knows u know. Well i'll stop talking now before the same dude start cussin me again. see yah around

i dont think staind sold out, sure their music got a little more mature, but i dare anyone to put king of all exscuses against anything from dysfunction and tormented and tell me it isnt as heavy.

and after seeing their show tonite in AC where they played 6 songs off of tormented and dysfunction, i can assure they are still in touch with their roots.

glad you gave staind a try! hope to see you at a show sometime!

To be absolutly honest, I don't care whether or not they did "sell out". I still love the music they write.

They have grown up a lot since tormented. I think there album that really showed their "growing stage" was 14SOG. It was the album that most people didn't like... But regardless of them "selling out" or them being true to their roots, I will still be a fan because they make music for us, the fans...

AND...for my exprience and the Aaron M&G, he was the most polite and thankful for me and the rest of the people in that room. Most bands wouldn't take the time to do something like that. He made sure that my expirence was once and a lifetime. And to be honest, it really did feel that way. I am thankful for the opportunity that he gave me.

To pay 35 dollars to be a part of a fanclub makes no difference to me. I love being a fan of this band. I also don't care whether people don't call me a "true fan" or not, all I know is that I am a fan.

People, its not the point of whenther they sold out or not...its about supporting them regardless of their state in rock/pop culture..

Sorry if it doesn't make sense..

Who cares. I hate that saying "Sold Out".. To me its ridiculous. Even if they did what they had to do to sell more records, thats ok. I think the best songs Staind has written are the ones that people say they "Sold out" on. Like James Hetfield said, "We sell out every seat in the house".

Wow your story sounds similar to mine. I'm a mother of two and until I got my ipod I had lost touch with the music I love so much. I always liked the "commercialized" Staind songs that I heard on the radio so I downloaded them, now I'm completely obsessed with every thing Staind.

I saw them last night at the Borgata and they were amazing...the $35 for the fanclub is worth it for the presale tix alone...don't pass up the opportunity to see them, I don't know where you live but there's a few shows coming up, get yourself a babysitter and go, you won't be sorry.

I think i have downloaded every staind song that i can find. most of the lyrics have been in my head for years. but in a really jumbled mess. So when I started listening i was just amazed. I felt like there IS someone out there who thinks like me. I felt the songs on a very personal level. that was why I was a little surprised by the website.

I don't know about you, but most of my conversations are with five year olds. whom I love very much. but i would love to talk to you if you want to e-mail me.

I was an idiot and put my e-mail adress as my site name. I was not thinking. so feel free to contact me.

I am constantly looking for other moms that i would actually have something in common with.

This is a great place to meet some great people! We have all had those lyrics running through our heads at many times of our life. And thankfully we have Aaron Lewis and Staind to put it all together for us. Welcome to the board and YOU NEED TO SEE STAIND WHEN THEY COME TO YOUR TOWN, you wont be disappointed.

I may not be in any place to say this, but if you've downloaded every song and love them all, wouldn't you feel the need to buy the albums? Just a suggestion. I don't mean any disrespect, but I feel that if at least half the album is worth listening to you should buy the album as support for the band. It's just those bands with 1 or 2 good songs that piss me off so they aren't going to get me to buy a full album for 2 catchy songs... And another thing... that fan club crap is bogus... especially the fact that it expires!!! I bought one for the first year to see what it was all about... That's just the label getting in the way in my opinion. The street team however is a great idea! Get points for supporting your band! Love it!

Also, Chapter V and 14SOG come with very cool video extras. A must have.

You can change your board name...

And sorry if a lot of you are in denial, but staind did sell out. Not saying it's good or bad, but they did do it.

And a lot of people say, "Oh, he's happier now. That's why the songs are this way now." I think that's crap. Your anger never goes away. You might learn to accept things, but you never forget. And I'm sure Aaron isn't happy now. He's just not so miserable. If he wanted to, he could put out the most lyrically brutal shit ever.

I have mixed feelings about what you said. I do agree that they sold out in the sense that they are on a major record label... It's a fact that any band who is on a major record label is going to be comerciallised (that explains the fan club and all that stuff). But I disagree when you say that anger never goes away... people grow out of anger. They realize that being angry all the time solves nothing... I think they just write music for how they're feeling at the time... and everyone has good moods and bad moods. That's why I love them so much, they have music for whatever mood I'm in!
