I like the fact that his voice is pretty unique. He doesn't sound like many other rock singers. I know some say he sounds similar to Shaun Morgan (of Seether, obviously) but Staind's been around a lot longer than Seether, so I think it should be referred to as vice versa.

Another thing I like, is he uses a little melisma. You don't hear melisma much in rock music, at least rock bands with male vox. He uses it pretty well too. I'm always looking for those little technicalities; I'm really drawn to the vocals in music. :]

i dont think he sounds like shaun. my favorite thing about aarons voice is that he sounds real. you can hear how he feels in every note

Well, I don't think Aaron and Shaun sound anything alike. I think they both sound great, and that they both sing very well. But, the similarities end there for me.

As you mentioned, Aaron's use of malisma is definitely a draw. I really wish I knew more technical terms to better answer this question. Since I don't, my answer will probably come out wrong. But, I'll try.

I've always been most drawn in by singing, w/the voice being my favorite instrument. Maybe it's partly due to having very sensitive hearing, my picky personality, and/or a mix of other things, but I'm VERY picky about singers. There are MANY singers that I respect for their ability, range, etc, but for whom I personally just don't like the sound of their voice, and/or am easily annoyed by the sound of many others' voices.

So, although I honestly LOVE the strength of Aaron's voice, his range, how he uses it, etc, what I guess I love most about it is purely how it sounds/the tone of it. Well, that and the fact that he can and DOES go from singing the most pure and beautiful, melodic verse to the most amazing, gut wrenching scream or growl. And, I guess it's those things for me, for the same reason Flaffy gave above...that you can hear how he feels (FEEL what he feels) in every note!

And, WHOO-freaking-HOO, it's less than a month until I get to hear it, live, again!!! God is so good! :]

I definitely agree with you both. The feeling gets me the most, I think. I like that.

My *personal* opinion is that I don't hear many similarities between Shaun and Aaron; I was just mentioning what I've heard others say. :]

Also, Raina, you mentioned that he can go from singing in a very pure, clean voice and also use the most intense screams and growls. That versatility is also a key factor in my love of his voice. :]

His voice is just so honest that its impossible to pass unoticed.

I love his voice because it comforts me. I just cant imagine never hearing it again.
