well, not horrible, but its the same old poppy bullshit. god damn. talk about selling out.

don't get me wrong, i used to be absolutely obsessed with staind, at one point i had every tshirt available (about 10 of them), all their posters, 2 of each of their cds, and even my license plate read "staind."

but honestly, why do they keep putting out this repetitive radio friendly bullshit. if this album sounds anything like the single, then that's disgusting and staind will be a classic example of a band totally selling the fuck out.

at least they play their old shit at their live shows, which i'm going to on tuesday. but seriously, come on staind. this shit is weak as fuck. sounds like nickleback

i'm not trying to piss you guys off. im not trying to say things that aren't nice. i'm just a die-hard staind fan that is getting fed up with the repetitiveness and lack of creativity. even the lyrics are starting to repeat the same kind of shit.

...It's the first single...If you had read any of the articles you would see that they are under pressure to release a ballad...Don't count out the whole album based on the first single...I am not a huge fan of "Right Here", but it's business...They aren't "The Sex Pistols", they do require a certain amount of commercial success to keep making albums...That's all I have to say about that...

Staind previously swore to rock even harder this time out, Lewis says it's aware of pressure for another ballad-style track along the lines of such hits as "Outside" and "It's Been Awhile."

"That's what the record label wants," he says. "You're foolish not to [be aware] of that."
SO GET OVER IT

Staind sounds like Nickelback... wow that warrants not even just being banned but you should have your tickets taken away.

I don't think that they are above criticism. At least it is coming from a real fan. I think it is legitimate to feel that way. Honestly, I was slightly disappointed to hear that after they set out to make a really hard record that it didn't happen. It is such a fallacy that they have to put out all of these soft(in several ways) songs to play on the radio or keep a record deal. At this point they don't even need a major label anymore. There are other bands like Tool, NIN, Serj/SOAD, QOTSA that work on more of their own terms without so-called pressure of what they have to put out. I mean really... Is it to sell a few more CD's to casual listeners? Newsflash --- The internet is killing record sales. If they didn't alienate many of their real (or former) fans, they would sell more tickets to concerts and they wouldn't have to open for Nickelback. (I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.)

I realize that it is business and they are selling something. They all are. It's such an awful excuse to say that they have to put out soft-ballads because that is what will be the most marketable.

What you say makes perfectly sense. And as a fan everybody as the right as well as the obbligation to be very critical towards his/her own favorite band. I dont think, as I was reading in some posts above, that if somebody is a real fan of staind they should always love whatever the bands put out. That is wrong. Staind have gained the respect of their fans over the years on the "battlefield", putting out one incredible album after the other; and that is what makes people like us like this band so much: QUALITY. Sometimes we forget that the quality of music that this band is able to deliver on each track is just impressive and well beyond the avarege rock bands that populate the chrats this days. Quality is what defines this band and that will always ensure them great followers. But if one day, might never come, this band will stop showing that quality, that doesnt mean that a fan should like them without questioning or criticising no matter what.

But again, I dont think that Staind are being pushed by the record lable to deliver a softer sound. This is just them at their best doing what they love in a most mature, elegant and mind-blowing manner they ever did.

Wait and see guys.. I'm sure that the 19th of august lots of people whom lost their fate in staind will witness a true "miracle".

You climbed mountains, forded streams, crossed oceans and prayed in mosques, temples and churches - followed gurus and teachers, studied in schools and universities, created businesses and enterprises, and stumbled, stood up and walked again until you came to realise that all that which you believe you have experienced in the span of a lifetime is incredibly compressed in this everlasting instant.
All your life is happening right Now!

and heres someone i can completely and utterly agree with...i never felt like staind NEEDS a huge label. Is it really a big deal if they dont get another number one platinum selling album???? i wouldnt say the new single is horrible...but i do feel like its the exact same formula theyve been using for the past 7 years...

ill always love this band, but in one way or another im sure EVERYONE here will get sick of it if they keep on releasing stuff along the lines of right here/believe

I agree for the most part. But they readily acknowledge that the label is always pushing for another Outside/IBAW type hit. I am still very intrigued by the blues and Floyd flavors that they say are on the record.
