If this is the direction they want to go so be it...

Agreed!!

people need to find real stuff to complain about...I personally like whatever they put out...I guess I'm not a music snob like these other people.

and and i agree that if i want to listen to something "hard" i have other bands that will do it for me but lets be honest... noone did it like our boy aaron. especially mixing beautiful singing in with it. NOONE!

but i love the band for more than their music. i understand why they are doing what theyre doing. there are many reasons. i respect that. i will love anything they put out. ive always said if they put out a country record i would become a country fan. but just because i may be "dissapointed" in something doesnt mean i love em less or dont still support them. so to say "fuck you" to someone who is just expressing their opinion without attacking the band or anyone else on here isnt cool. i do get your point though.

*disclaimer for the immature: ive stated my opinion means nothing. i havent attacked anyone. i kept it neutral. so before responding keep that in mind. also keep in mind that i kill people. haha

Agreed on everything, except "Leave that sh*t to the girls."

Staind has been around so long because they have grown musically to create new styles while still incorporating a lot of the styles that made them what they are today, If every album sounded just like dysfunction guess what. we wouldn't be here, Staind would be a distant memory. So guess what people, on August 19th, but the CD, play it and then and only then if it fails to meet your expectations, then sign on here and trash it, tell us how much you hate it. Then we'll trash you anyway because negativity is not an option on this board unless its directed at someone spreading negativity.

I'm not saying sounding like dysfunction.
You can be heavy and evolve too.
Trust me I don't want the same sound over and over. I'm just saying these guys started of as a heavy, non-radio friendly band. And they've softened, fine, great, they've kept the heaviness, they've gotten radio friendly, whatever. I really don't have to explain my opinions. The fact is, I'm a massive fan of this band, I've already got tickets to a show coming up this month, so don't tell me shit. I don't give to craps about what your sick of hear etc etc. It's an online forum, people are gouing to write things here you won't like, but it's tough crap! Your not god, your not jesus and I could give a rat's cold ass if you where.
Have a nice day kids, I need a ciggarette!

Well not for nothing man but i think a "MASSIVE" fan of the band wouldn't be on here pissing and moaning about an album thats not even out yet. And by the way you spelled cigarette wrong.

^^nice spelling error call out haha

and I'm kinda with you. I'm certainly not one to question one's fanhood, but I consider myself diehard...and it seems you are diehard - so you'll be happy with whatever comes out. We can't be picky..I'm just appreciative that we're still getting new albums.

and im down for the hug

I'm not really pissing and moaing.
I'm just hoping staind doesn't forget part of thier fanbase. Cuz without US, they wouldn't have sold enough record to stay on thier label and release outside, and IBAW. We are the ones who bought Dysfunction back when we heard Just Go on the radio. Now I'll buy TIOP, I can guarantee that, I'll be outside the store from 7am till they open! Just like I was for BTC, 14SOG, and CHV.
I enjoy thier slower stuff, I really do, I just...
I miss moshing at Staind shows!
that's where I started moshing!
Staind got me into heavy music!
And I dunno maby it just feels
like something I loved and knew
is becoming something alittle different
and I'm scarred..

it sheltered me from nothing but the weather, I called it home for a moment of my life, this place I see just doesn't look familliar, I wonder if it looks the same inside....

u know Akurei...on so many levels i have to agree with you, but anything staind ever throws out i tend to enjoy.

but the points you've made are part of the reason why ive been upset with the band lately (not to mention touring with bands that arent even REMOTELY on the same level as Staind....)
but hey, you cant blame them for trying something new

The guitar solos thing sounds very promising. We all know how good Mike is he, it's time he shows it off.

...But I have to admit, like many other people, I think some heavy tracks would be great.

thats not true at all.. theres plenty of bands that stick to their roots and release album after album of at least music of a similar sound, because isnt that what people enjoyed about the band in the first place??? I mean Akruei is right saying that the fans of the older staind is what had gotten the band on the map to begin with. Im pretty sure what hes trying to say is that the Staind that exists today is not the same Staind that he used to love...

and back to bands that apparently repeat the same sounding material and do quite well in the business: Slipknot, Disturbed, Sevendust, and a whooole lot more bands that anyone can think of. Are they still on the map??? most definately! would staind not exist anymore if they had stayed in the dysfunction/most BTC era (excluding the ballads)? of course theyd still be alive.

so big fucking deal if they dont score number one on the billboards and get multi-platinum sales, at least they wouldnt be changing material at the expense of the fans that put them on the map in the first place...

dont get me wrong im not bashing the band, but this attitude that people have to accept Staind the way that they are now. We're all going to be buying the new album (whether its heavy or not), but im positive that theres going to be people disappointed and theres going to be people that are proud...

Your post s predominantly right, its unfortunate that we live and exist in a society that puts more emphasis on money than on talent. And had staind walked a straight line and never altered their style the industry would have shown them the door.

i agree...but there are bands that produce their own records independently and still sell fairly decent....but what one label may not want, another might be in favor of (if you get what im saying).

Woah woah woah woah woah woah woah now Harrison

What in the world are you talking about? He can't scream as well as he used to? The fuck he can.

He chooses not to scream, he growls songs, because as you probably don't know since you've never screamed then had to sing Outside or It's Been Awhile, (that was not an attack H, I am just informing =P) screaming throughout a majority of a song and then singing other stuff, it makes it harder to sing and hit certain notes.

But the fact he stopped screaming aside, do you not remember their This Love cover? Aaron fuckin screamed his heart out, and did the best screams I've EVER heard out of him.

Heres my 2 cents worth...
I would buy a Staind cd if they were doing Barney cover songs... I love the band, I love thier music, the hard and the softer side, I love Staind and I will support and love this next cd and the next and the next...
