Fuck everyone who says "The heavy stuff" I'm so sick of hearing that. "Everyone wants the old heavy music" fuck that. If you want heavy shit listen to something else. Everyone bitches and complains about the direction in which the music is going, but love it no matter what. These dudes are some great song writers across the board. If this is the direction they want to go so be it...

Fuck me eh?
Piss off.
I'm a huge fan of this band.
I've been there since Dysfunction!
These guys are from my hometown.
I've got thier name on my skin, FOREVER.
I'm not saying they aren't great songwriters.
I'm just saying that it's kind of saddening to me that over the years and thier musical evolution, they just aren't the same band anymore. And ya know what I contribute a good bit to this forum in my posts. And you can kiss my ass if you have the nerve to give me flak for an opinion.

Settle down there bud =P

What he's really trying to say, is all those people that say they don't want to listen to the music they come out with now, they only like the old hard stuff and don't really want to give two shits (thats a patented phrase btw) about the new music, and always complain about them not being heavy anymore.

You sir, I do not believe did the things I described above, so, he didn't mean it to you.

So lets all be friends, and can't we just all get a bong?

this band can still rock. paper jesus and king of all exscuses are some of the heaviest stuff they've ever done. so it's not that they can't still rock, they just don't want to end up like the killswitch engages of the world, they don't want all of their shit to sound the exact same. Don't get me wrong, i do enjoy KSE, i've paid to see them live, but i'd be kidding myself i didn't say that most of the music has the exact same sound. Staind likes to switch it up, try new things, aaron said it perfectly in the article.

I've learned with new music, when u dont expect any specific sound from a band's new album, u won't be disappionted.

^ killswitch is my top 5 bands but
for one different singers on each album
and howard jones wrote lyrics for as daylight dies
and jesse leach wrote them for AOJB

and stated in their dvd howard said that he wanted to continue what jesse would write about in their songwriting.

Ok, I'm not saying that Aaron can't scream, but we can agree he can't as well as he used to. And I'm not saying that's a bad thing, necessarily.

And the LAST show you went to, they played Raw? What was that like, 4 years ago???

Everyone is privy to their own opinion, that is what our forefathers and our soldiers have faught and died for....

the "heavy shit" is still there, look/listen to the core and the drive of the music itself....there is a pull to actually get up and listen intently, keep it in your ear, and it brings out the depth of an intelligent, thoughtfull father and husband in the lyrics....I understand the joy of the scream, we all have been there....I am around the same age as Aaron, have grown and have kids, still love the scream, but why MUST he go back to screaming all over a record if that's not what HE (THE SONGWRITER, THE SINGER, THE AARON LEWIS) wants to do???? If you love the band, have been there since TorMenTeD, then you have been there for 10yrs also, and, like me, have, hopefully, grown from adoloscent absentmindedness....

Every1 that wants to bitch, at least do 1 thing....not for me, but for yourself and especially for StainD.....

Go out August 19th and purchace the album....Put it in your cd player, and open your mind....first reminding yourself that this music is coming from husbands and fathers who have grown musically more than anyone in the last 15 yrs....They are not worried about doing the same shit all the time, and will do what they want, and that's ANOTHER thing that makes them incredible beyond words

(sorry I rambled, but I am tired of hearing bitching about a new work of art that isn't even out yet from a band who's helped me grow as a man and stay alive....StretcH)

well, if you're here, you're probably going to buy the cd. although some people have seemed a little disappointed, i haven't heard anyone say "im not gonna buy the cd" i'd say 99% of the people that are posting here are going to buy the CD.

the thing that "bothers" me the most is how many people are saying it's not going to heavy simply based on the song titles. as soon as some people saw "Rainy Day Parade" they jumped off the heavy ship. rainy day parade could rock our socks.

you tell em H

Its just so fuckin annoying that every time a new CD is on the horizon it gets predicated by the same old "Why don't they go back to Dysfuncton style". Its getting old people. Staind has been around so long because they have grown musically to create new styles while still incorporating a lot of the styles that made them what they are today, If every album sounded just like dysfunction guess what. we wouldn't be here, Staind would be a distant memory. So guess what people, on August 19th, but the CD, play it and then and only then if it fails to meet your expectations, then sign on here and trash it, tell us how much you hate it. Then we'll trash you anyway because negativity is not an option on this board unless its directed at someone spreading negativity.

my 2 cents (which at the end of it all means nothing):

i dont believe that staind wouldnt be around if every album was like dysfunction. i would be as big of a fan as i am now and i believe alot others would be too. i hate the gay ass people that call staind sellouts or say they dont like em because theyre not hard. but i dont get all offended when someone says theyre dissapointed because the album wont be as hard. i actually had a conversation wife my fiance last night about how she gets all in her feelings when i say im dissapointed in something or didnt like something. she takes it personal and it becomes her shit and reads too far into it. which is what ive seen in this thread. leave that to shit to the girls. i too am dissapointed that it probably wont be as hard (i know the reasons why and im cool with it). but the fact of the matter is is that (like H said) he doesnt do it live like he used to, and all this shit about KOAE or paper jesus being as hard as anything off of tormented or dysfunction is BS. no way shape or form. good songs. but not as hard IMO.

and and i agree that if i want to listen to something "hard" i have other bands that will do it for me but lets be honest... noone did it like our boy aaron. especially mixing beautiful singing in with it. NOONE!

but i love the band for more than their music. i understand why they are doing what theyre doing. there are many reasons. i respect that. i will love anything they put out. ive always said if they put out a country record i would become a country fan. but just because i may be "dissapointed" in something doesnt mean i love em less or dont still support them. so to say "fuck you" to someone who is just expressing their opinion without attacking the band or anyone else on here isnt cool. i do get your point though.

*disclaimer for the immature: ive stated my opinion means nothing. i havent attacked anyone. i kept it neutral. so before responding keep that in mind. also keep in mind that i kill people. haha

I'm not saying sounding like dysfunction.
You can be heavy and evolve too.
Trust me I don't want the same sound over and over. I'm just saying these guys started of as a heavy, non-radio friendly band. And they've softened, fine, great, they've kept the heaviness, they've gotten radio friendly, whatever. I really don't have to explain my opinions. The fact is, I'm a massive fan of this band, I've already got tickets to a show coming up this month, so don't tell me shit. I don't give to craps about what your sick of hear etc etc. It's an online forum, people are gouing to write things here you won't like, but it's tough crap! Your not god, your not jesus and I could give a rat's cold ass if you where.
Have a nice day kids, I need a ciggarette!

ok. lefty, i know what you mean. rocco, i understand you as well. sure, i'd like for there to be some heavy songs. lefty, you said that if every CD was like dysfunction that you'd still listen, as would a lot of us. okay, you're right about that. BUT how good did Dysfunction do, sales wise? If instead of BTC, it had been another dysfunction, then Staind wouldn't have gotten near the popularity that they did. Therefore, I think that's why Rocco is saying that Staind wouldn't be here, and we wouldn't be here...because they would have never gotten anywhere except for their loyal fans from the beginning. I think someone else stated this earlier....one of my favorite things about this band is how you never know what to expect. I have no idea what the album is going to sound like, neither does anyone else. That can't be said for 90% of bands that have a new album coming out. Everybody is jumping on this bawagon of the album not being heavy based on insufficient evidence.

So...yeah, I wouldn't mind have some heavy dysfunction-like tracks. But I don't want Dysfunction. Whatever happens, this band is going to leave us in awe and the album will touch us all in one way or another, like they all have. I can't wait to hear it, and I hope it's as big of a step for them musically as all of their albums have been.

Listen to Fightstar mate. ;-)

You climbed mountains, forded streams, crossed oceans and prayed in mosques, temples and churches - followed gurus and teachers, studied in schools and universities, created businesses and enterprises, and stumbled, stood up and walked again until you came to realise that all that which you believe you have experienced in the span of a lifetime is incredibly compressed in this everlasting instant.
