hahaha I saw that about Faulk getting a misdemeanor for pot possession. hilarious.

Panthers are close to signing Mushin Muhammad (YEAH!!!!) i was upset when we let him go - so if we can get him back I'd be thrilled. we need that possession receiver that Dwayne Jarrett hasn't proved to be. plus - smitty and jake would be thrilled to have their boy back.

Panthers have received calls from Miami and NYJ about possibly trading for Kris Jenkins. Reports saying we are interested in getting Jonathan Vilma from the jets - and he is on the trading block. If we could get him, we'd have maybe the sickest LB core int he leage - beason, vilma, davis. all young as hell too.

i dont know what miami might be offering, but i'd love that 2nd round 1st pick

this offseason has been good for us so far - free agency starts at midnight. i got a good feeling.

Courtesy of ESPN, there are 4 teams pursuing Randy Moss

New England
Philadelphia
Dallas
Carolina

I still think he'll stay in NE, but all these other teams would be crazy scenarios. He could go to Philly and be like the "next T.O."....since owens didn't work out, there trying with another ego-first reciever. With Dallas - NEXT to T.O.!!! No way would that ever work out, but it'd be good TV. And with Carolina, next to Smitty? That's more likely to work than with T.O.... but even smitty has a big head sometimes.

SPIKES OUT IN PHILLY . . . MOSS IN?

On Friday night, an eagle-eyed reader in Philly pointed out to us that the Eagles' depth chart shows Asante Samuel as the starter at left cornerback, and Lito Sheppard as the second-stringer.
So we shared that info with PFT Planet, and several members of the Philly chapter pointed out that nowhere on the depth chart are the words "Takeo" or "Spikes."
And that is prompting speculation that Spikes and his $5 million base salary are on the way out. Since 2008 is the final year of his contract, cutting him would give the Eagles an immediate $5 million in cap space, with no acceleration.
The possible departure of Spikes and the arrival of receiver Randy Moss on the open market has prompted speculation that the Eagles might make a run at Randy.
The wild card in all of this is Samuel. He's in a position to greatly influence the Eagles, one way or the other, on the value of Moss. Samuel was with the Pats for four seasons before Moss, so he's in a great position to provide the powers-that-be with the inside look at the "before" and the "after".
Stay tuned. Prior to signing Asante, the Eagles were coy about trading Sheppard, likely because they didn't want a repeat of the LeCharles Bentley episode in their quest for Samuel. The wheels might quietly be in motion as to Spikes because the Eagles hope to soar under radar if they decide to try to reel in Randy.
Hey, if T.O. and Moss can't play on the same team, the next best thing is having him in the same division.

------------------------

Eagles also signed Asante Samuel. The Pats are falling apart!

Eagles making some nice moves too, lefty

FUCK! STEELERS HAVE GOT MOSS!!!

well, no, but if the boston globe is right, we could have Moss, and hell, I would pay to have that black and gold with 81 on it

http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/football/patriots/vi...srvc=pats&position=1

quote:
The Randy Moss rumors grew more dire last night, with word that the Packers and maybe even the Cowboys were considering runs at the star free agent receiver and NFL.com reporting that Moss has grown “frustrated” with the Patriots [team stats]’ lack of movement.

Although it still seems to make the most sense for Moss to stay in Foxboro, the money has to work, and right now it doesn’t. The NFL.com story also noted that Moss doesn’t plan to take another discount to stay with the Pats.

If Moss leaves, where might he go? If he’s to be taken at his word about wanting to play for a winner, his options narrow considerably.

And judging from his misery in Oakland, he’s probably not going anywhere with a subpar quarterback.

Those two factors eliminate much of the league.

Here are the five teams most likely to offer the right mix to Moss:

1. Cowboys - Owner Jerry Jones is rich, so that’s not an issue. And Tony Romo is a Pro Bowl quarterback, so that would work, too. Don’t be surprised if Dallas puts on the full-court press. Jones already is on record saying he wants to make a splash this offseason, and the Cowboys thus far have been surprisingly quiet, beyond re-signing lineman Flozell Adams.
2. Packers - The Pack should have faced the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, but they couldn’t seal the deal at home against the Giants. QB Brett Favre is supposedly mulling retirement, but as the NFL Network’s Adam Schefter noted, nothing would energize him like the presence of Moss, whom he campaigned for last offseason.

3. Steelers - Big Ben Roethlisberger already has won a Super Bowl and last year made the leap from game manager to game changer. The Steelers are always in the hunt, though they appear set at wide receiver with Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes.

4. Giants - Although Eli Manning may not yet be an elite QB, he’s got great bloodlines, and many expect him to blossom after what he did in Super Bowl XLII. That said, caveat emptor - he ranked 25th in quarterback rating.

5. Saints - They’re coming off a down season, but with QB Drew Brees, RB Reggie Bush and WR Marques Colston, the Saints are an excellent candidate to bounce back, especially in the weak NFC South. Their interest in Asante Samuel [stats] proves they’re willing to spend this offseason.

The Seahawks (Matt Hasselbeck) and Browns (Derek Anderson) mildly fit the formula, but it’s hard to picture Moss in either uniform. Then again, it’s hard to believe he couldn’t reach a deal with the Pats, so anything’s possible.

I saw the Steelers might be a contender to get him. The "top 5" list changes every day - but its just peoples opinions. The steelers might not have even contacted him, so don't get excited. I've heard the panthers are looking at him too (from ESPN) but realistically i don't see it happening.

really i don't see him going anywhere else, i think he'll stay in NE. but if he were going to go anywhere based on a team that he'd like to play for....id say packers, steelers, or saints (unfortunately) if the saints get him i might die.

yea, I read steelernation.com and the first responce to this news about moss was that he woul more expect to see jesus at his office desk then moss play for us, still, Im going on madden 08 tonight and putting moss in the steelers team =P

in some ways, I can see that we could use him, I mean if he is as good as he was last year, he would have to understand he might not be #1 on the depth chart but rather #2

however, if he is money, then should we? I mean we said goodbye to fanca an now he sight the largest paid contract for a OL, so woul we go big to get moss?

speaking of OL, we have been soo quiet in the FA, just signing some ofour FA's to tendered contracts...jesus its soo complacted all this franchise and UFA, RFA, and so on. so with our little action, is Tomlin looking at the draft for a new OL? caus I know we have no other G now Fanca is gone, and Max Starks is a FA, so our OL needs people, or else all ben will have to guard him is the FB, TE an the snapper

speaking of ben...he has signed a 8 year deal toay, no word on the money but this will lead him to 2015, so his dream so play NFL in one team all his life looks to becomming true

^yeah, we need OL too. i think we'll use our first round pick on it.

And Moss isnt going anywhere where he will be #2 on the depth chart - which is why people suspecting Dallas will get him are ridiculous

hang on, what the fuck

After Pittsburgh shelled out $102 million on quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, it still had some left over for former Vikings free-agent running back Mewelde Moore, who became the Steelers first free-agent acquistion this winter. Moore and the Steelers reached agreement Monday on a three-year contract.

Multiple teams attempted to acquire Moore from Minnesota before last season’s trade deadline.

Moore will be a solid third-down back in Pittsburgh and provides insurance in the event that running back Willie Parker struggles to return from last sesaon’s fractured leg. -- Adam Schefter

we dont need a backup, najei is our backup, playing like tat means a shotgun with a FB and HB if willie is out. this guy now needs to learn that he'll be there for either emergency or now... kick and punt returns
