I know Im not american, but at this time does it matter

the last few days all ive heard about is gustav, how it kills many in the small islands like hati. They have said all along its headded for you, and after katrina, im amazed how strong you all are. sadly this time a do fear. you have no shelters to go (the superdome is closed), also, they are saying this is the biggest in decade. This time you are prepared, the army is already there. In the UK, we dont our fighting men huge respect, over there, you do. I hope you all respect your righting men for this storm, yes they're not fighting, but they are there to help you and save you, and for that, I think the whole of america pays them a lot of respect

so I hope not much happen, I hope its not as bad as katrina, but you are in my prayers and i hope you make a speedy recovery and get back to being the city you used to be

And, yes, God bless you in New Orleans! I pray it's not too bad this time around. My Sister-i-law and Nephew are in Jamaica that was hit pretty hard, another one is supposedly making it's way there, and they are there until Wednesday. Luckily they are all good where they are atm, but I'm still worried about them, and those in New Orleans, too.

We take for granted the men and women we have on standby 24/7 just waiting for the call for action. We our men and women in uniform so much, and I'm comforted to know that if tragedy should ever strike my city, state, COUNTRY, etc... they will be ready to aid and assist in every imaginable way.

I heard that douchebag Michael Moore make a comment yesterday saying this hurricane was a gift from God and proof that God really does exist since this will cause the RNC to delay or cancel some of its events for their convention this week. That pissed me off so much. I want to make a documentary on how much of a disgraceful sack of turd this guy is.

On a brighter note, my thoughts and prayers go out to ALL those who are affected in one way or another by this storm, both inside and outside the U.S.

they are all being forced to leave. and if you stay its your fault. I hope some stubborn people dont stay this time because its going to end badly for them

Are you a conservative? And I'm sure Michael Moore was not serious. I highly doubt he WANTS the hurricane to happen, but since it is, it's awesome that the republicans and their right-wing propaganda aren't going to be able to hog up all the media attention with their bullshit. I don't think anyone would dislike Michael Moore solely based on that comment, there's so many other comments, statements, political viewpoints, etc to detest the man for.

Thank God the hurricane's been downgraded to category two.... I'm glad the state of LA is being evacuated either way though, it seems like the gov't was much better prepared for this storm than last go around: from city mayors to the state's governor to the president, everyone was much more decisive this time around. It's not over yet obviously, but I hope everything continues in the positive direction for everyone involved. McCain canceled pretty much all of today's planned festivities and ordered much of the fundraising that was going to be done for the GOP be converted into fundraising for victims and hurricane relief... whether that be for political gain or for genuine compassion, it's great to see that EVERYONE is in this together.

i know its only a 2 but from what I heard, it wasn only 1mph off a 3, so its still quite bad

Either way, it's a hurricane, so it's terrible either way. I mean it's bad enough when the area deals with a tropical storm, but the unpredictability and devastation of hurricanes is just heart-wrenching... I truly get saddened when things like this happen because it just feels like shit when watching these things on the news, you feel so helpless when all you want to do is help the people involved. But most, if not all that can be done can only be done superseding the hurricane's landfall.

ive just been watching fottage that horadlo guy from fox did, they went right up to the levee. its shocking, the good news is that the levees are holding but its just flopping over each wave. either way, if they hold or burst, there will be some flooding i believe
