I was reading about that yesterday, and it's just terrible. However I wouldn't say amusement parks suck. BUT i don't ever ride those drop tower rides, I hate those.

This is such a weird story though because they don't know when during the ride it happened or how. The only way I could think that it could happen on a ride like this is that a cable snapped from the tower and swung out and cut her feet...

This is of course terrible! I wonder if they found her feet and if they were able to re-attatch them. I doubt it, but I sure hope so!

Just an FYI, though...apparently it was a cable that snapped, so it has NOTHING to do w/being a 'drop' ride. It can happen on any ride that has cables, which is most...including the seemingly innocuous swings. Doing anything that has any sort of thrilling aspect has its risks. There is always at least one accident @ one of the amusement parks each year. Considering how many rides there are in how many parks, and how many times each day each one runs, I would bet that being a casualty of an amusement park accident is about as likely as winning the lottery.

That being said, it is still an unnecessary risk that one must judge for themselves whether or not they want to take. Not that it should matter, but I for one LOVE amusement parks, except for the terribly long lines.
