Saw the today show and learned of this foundation... AWESOME.. I love hearing when people step up to help others...

I am currently trying to help "SAVE" my son's school and need to find them help.
If anyone can help .. or recommend where we can go to get help .. I'd appreciate it.

The school is in Rochester Hills, MI and was started years ago out of a person's home. It's grown to approx 150 kids grades K-8 plus 66 kids in the parent/tot classes.
It is a Waldorf school. http://www.oaklandsteiner.com

the school has leased it's current location for the past 8 yrs. at a CHEAP $4.50 sq ft. but the owners of the property are selling. (if you look at the website you'll see the pic of the building- the outside doesn't reflect what the inside is like w/ art work lining the halls and oodles of parent volunteers)

We are losing our property and need to move!

Parent donations, slightly higher tuition, a county school bond, and what little the school has will only give us $1.4 million to find a new home. Frowner

We bid on the location we are leasing & lost. Since, we've learned that our current building has depression era murals - in an effort to save history we've donated our time to save the building for historic purposes. However, we will still need to find a new home.

We also learned a portion of the school property was placed into perpetuity (99yr to stay green) but deed records are illegible therefore the buyer of the land will build condos or retail on it. Frowner

I am attempting to help this school because my son, Eddie (10) spent years at the public school bored and unchallenged. My son is flurishing here. He LOVES IT. and one mom yesterday who get's tuition assistance for her daughter shared w/ me .. that her daughter come heck or high water wants to graduate from this school. She loves it and even if she didn't have money for tuition she'd do a "sit in" until they let her stay.
Now THAT'S at Statement of kids Loving School!

Oakland Steiner supplements almost 20% of the kids tuition for those that need it simply by school fundraising with ALOT of effort from staff and parents.
Helping the children attend this school AND finding a new home poses Unbelievable Obsticals for us.

Oakland Steiner School is a 501c3 if you can help with a donation, grant, gifts in kind, anything, even donation of appreciate stock for a doubly good tax write off of no capital gains w/ charitable donation write off..
please help...

Thank God there's PUBLIC SCHOOLS!!!

WOW! Could you imagine how many county owned animal shelters across the country would LOVE to have 'only $1.4 million'??? So many hungry and abandoned cat and dogs that don't have a 'choice of lifestyle'. Frowner Now that's sad.
Thank you Rob and Marisol for helping those who really are less privileged. Wink I'm sure Tyler thanks you everyday!! Smiler

about 3 million cans!!! Eeker Eeker Eeker

Maybe the schools own alumni could help you with 'your/their' school. Smiler Good Luck.
