Im glad there are still guys out there that play music that do drugs. Alot of these bands don't do drugs anymore and look how much their music sucks. Look at all the great musicians who did drugs and made some really great music. Its time for all the musicians in rock to start doing some drugs again soley for the sake of the music.

woah... no offense... but that's one of the stupidest things i've ever heard... i love music, i live for music, & without it i think i would go insane, but drugs can seriously destroy people.. i've seen it happen & no one should ever risk their life like that... not for music or anything else... That's just stupid...

*PEACE LOVE SHINEDOWN*

juice, you know that Brent at least claims to be completely drug-free. I can't speak for the rest of the guys, and if someone knows differently please let me know.

Poor guy! He's very talented. I wish him a speedy recovery Smiler

And Juice, who's to say it's drugs? Could be alcohol! Whatever it is, hopefully he gets better and gets back on the road!

What about the other side of it.

This might sound a bit silly but, when your high, tripin, rollin, whatever, it seems like you can hear the music so much more clearly, you can understand it better, and really feel it. It's like it gets deeper into your soul.

By all means drugs can do harm, i'm not trying to promote them, that's just my inner Hippie talking. Big Grin

Juice has got a point. I'm not condemning nor promoting drug use, however after some bands became drug-free/alcohol-free their performences on stage were simply boring.

I also remember Metallica's James Hatfield saying he's drug free and alcohol free and then all of a sudden he enters rehab. After he returned the band and the music was never the same.

While it may be true, think of all the past musician greats who were using hardcore drug that are long gone. I'm talking those drugs that actually killed them in the process.

To name a few: Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin

You get the picture. I do not promote drug use, and there are certain drugs that NEEDS to be avoided... Those two I mentioned were using Heroin.. very dangerous if used too much.

John Belushi died several years ago in a California hotel room after binging on Heroin.

How about John Candy? .. ok.. ok.. I going off track.

But the point is, yes, the music was GREAT when they were doin' drugs and after they clean up, it wasn't the same anymore. TRUE.. but give them time.

Rank that right up there with 1 of the stupidest things I have heard reguarding all this. There are MANY people that I know and love that do drugs and are in the music business. It takes a very strong person to admitt they have a problem and make the effort to fix it. I know a few people that could do the same. I wish Shaun the best in this and pray he gets the help he seeks.

are you buddhist? i myself never agreed that there is no good and evil, because i believe reality is defdined by perception. to lift oneself out of life and see it objectively is to misunderstand its very nature.
anyway, drugs are bad, but, in my drug-free understanding, it is possible to elevate one's creativity and musical ability while on them. i myself would rather suck than use drugs, though, and there are many talented artists that don't use them.
