So like, wow.
Clickeh Velvet Revolver is breaking up, and it looks like April 7th will be an announcement of STP's getting back together. Strange eh? Well, maybe I'll try out for lead of VR now. Looks to me more like Velvet Revolver is not breaking up although Scott will no longer be in the band. Instead Slash hints that they will be replacing Scott with a new singer. Either way leaving Scott free to reunite with STP or do whatever.
Velvet Revolver Parts Ways with Singer Scott Weiland It's Official: VELVET REVOLVER Parts Ways With Singer SCOTT WEILAND - Apr. 1, 2008 VELVET REVOLVER founding members Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner announced today (Tuesday, April 1) that they are parting ways with singer Scott Weiland. "This band is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn't 100% committed to either," said Slash in a press release. "Among other things, his increasingly erratic onstage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on." Slash hinted in a recent interview that the band might carry on without Weiland, who announced onstage in Glasgow two weeks ago that fans were watching the "last tour" by the group. Weiland and drummer Matt Sorum proceeded to get into a public war of words online, fueling speculation that the band was splitting apart. But Slash told Classic Rock magazine, "Obviously I'm very aware of everything that's going on. The only thing I can add to that is, in contrast to what Scott says, there will be a VELVET REVOLVER after this tour." When asked if Weiland would continue as the singer, Slash added with a chuckle, "I have no comment on that." Weiland is reuniting with his previous outfit, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, which broke up in 2002. The group has scheduled a press conference in Los Angeles for April 7 where it will announce a full tour of 50 or more dates for the summer and fall in addition to the handful of festival shows already confirmed. Weiland spent a month in rehab recently, following an arrest for driving under the influence last November and his failure to show up for a VELVET REVOLVER gig at the Sundance Festival in January. Despite the latest turmoil, bassist Duff McKagan told the U.K.'s Journal Live recently, "VELVET REVOLVER is something that's going to be around for a long while yet." ******************************* "Good sex is like good Bridge... I think they need a rockier singer, and I'd probably like them better that way. Weiland was good for grungy STP stuff, (I hope he still will be) but he's too light. If they had somebody like Brent of Shaun Morgan, they'd be great.

How long until STP breaks up again?
What a wicked game to play To make me feel this way What a wicked thing to do To make me dream of you |

I'd give it no more than a year, maybe two.

Or until Scott's next fall from the wagon requiring his presence to do yet ANOTHER stint in rehab. Not that I wish for him to fail. But he doesn't seem to care enough about himself, ____ _______ ____(fill in the blanks as you see fit)

Maybe STP won't last that long, but Weiland doesn't have anywhere to go anymore since he was pretty much kicked out of Velvet Revolver. Now Slash and company are hunting for a new lead singer.
Where you been? Where you from? Don't you know us? We're the ones who got to steal the sun. |

I would love to see these guys get back together.

Velvet Revolver needs to figure out what they want to do with the singer situation. When they chose Scott, they rushed into working with him knowing his history. And STP...who knows with them? They'll try it and see how long it will go. I like both bands but I'm not holding my breath for either one. I'll accept whatever happens in each camp and leave it at that.

The Rock On the Range shows sounded cool. I'm sure Scott had some time to mellow out and get himself ready to that show. It's the next bunch of shows that gets interesting...so we shall see what happens next.
