I live 30 miles NW of Orlando, it's laid back, no concert venues, but O-town has many that are 45 minutes or less Lake County has plenty of drinking establishments, too, lol.

However, I have some family that live on the west coast in the New Port Richey and Hudson area. I believe this is north of Tampa and close to New Tampa. It's really a nice place. Relaxing, yet close to fun if you need it

I really liked living in Orlando, but I was out in N Orlando almost in Apopka. Jax is nice, but slow paced. I hate Daytona. St. Augustine is cool, but again slow paced. It really depends on the enviroment you wish to live in...do you want beach life, country life, what?
I live outside of a small town in N.Fla called Havana. We have 2 stop lights. Can you say back-woods Southern hick? I'm 'bout 25 miles north of Tallahassee. Tallahassee is 'bout 30min from the Gulf coast and the best seafood in the world (Apalachicola). Tallahassee is one big forest of oaks and magnolias and pines and crape myrtles and every flower and bird in the Universe, and it fucking rocks. This areas has spawned the likes of Creed, Alter Bridge, Social Burn, Black Crowes, Sevendust, and just a skip down the road in Jax, Skynyrd and Shinedown. Oops, we also have a shit-load of alligators, snakes, spiders, roaches and every other creepy crawley. Oh, yeah, and fucking football, oh, go Seminoles--barf. )O(-Donna
Thanks for all your help guys. I knew the boards would be a good place to ask. Dinky, to answer your question, I am looking for someplace affordable so I would have to say country even though I love the beach.

pan handle is nice, Panama City rocks! Country places, well, gee lots of those....Middleburg, Palatka, Keystone Heights, Starke, The town I grew up in Green Cove Springs...cheap as hell, you can rent a house in "downtown" 2 blocks off the St. John's river for about 650 a month...I know I own it. Just threw some assholes out of it. Just for shits and grins, Jax Beach (oh, Jacksonville Beach) isn't all that expensive for the beach. Just a matter of finding the right person to wheel and deal with. But you wouldn't be on the beach for cheap just pretty close to it. Mor eparking there than where I live. I am pissed now, because when I bought my house I resodded the yard and now it's all dead from the townies parking on my lawn and hubby's truck that for whatever reason is never parked in the driveway but on my lawn of weeds.
South Florida is definitely out of the question if you want something affordable. It's getting so ridiculous to live here anymore.
