I can't quite bring myself to see this movie yet. Heath was one of my favorite actors of all time. One of my favorites, if not my favorite movie is Brokeback Mountain. Many of you may disagree with me. However, once I saw that movie, and I've seen it many times, I realized how great of an actor he was. He became whatever character he was playing. He said so much without saying a word. IMO, he really should have won an oscar for that role. That movie was so much more that a "gay cowboy" movie. Unfortunately, a lot of people couldn't get past that.

I'm watching Batman on TV.
Jack Nicholson will ALWAYS be the Joker. Sorry. Also, I LOVE Tim Burton! I do not think I will be seeing this (willingly) because I don't want to ruin the image of the Joker that lives in my head. |

Uhhhh, I got a pass to see Step Brothers next wednesday. Dark Knight has just broke the box-office record: 66 grand in one day. To bad I only have money for one movie, and that movie is Wanted. Dark knight would be second choice though.

Mel... Jack was fun as the Joker.. watched that one last night too after seeing the Dark Knight.. lol.. I grew up watching the batman tv series.. so to me Ceasar Romero will always be the "real" joker to me...but Jack and Heath did a fantastic job as well.

I saw this movie the day it came out.... Now, I too thought as Jack Nicholson as the Joker... Until now. Heath's performance as the Joker simply blew me away and he is now The Joker in my eyes. His performance in this movie is simply unreal. He put on the best villain performance I have seen in ANY movie, not just superhero movies. Best Batman film ever. Hands down.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion, and with that being said .... I HATE Jack Nicholson with a passion; I've never enjoyed him in anything. He never deviates from the same basic character regardless of the role he played. Jack didn't play The Joker; he played Jack Nicholson with clown makeup. As for Tim Burton, unless Johnny Depp is the star I won't even give it a chance. Their redux of The Chocolate Factory was fantastic; not as good as the original but I loved it. Sweeney Todd was awesome as well, even though I'm not a musical fan. I understand where you're coming from, but I really hope you consider giving The Dark Knight a chance someday As for the movie itself .... WOW. If the 3AM showing hadn't been sold out I would have bought a ticket and stayed for it. As it is, work has not allowed me another chance to see it. Fortunately, I have this coming weekend off & since my plans to fly up to Detroit fell through, I think I'll spend Saturday at the local iMAX taking in the experience again & again Oh, and few things would give me more pleasure than to strangle Will Ferrell with my bare hands |

Wow. Way to totally tear my thoughts to shreds. Awesome!
Nicholson was the first Joker that I remember. I did watch the old series, and LOVED it, seriously. Onomatopoeia FTW! He'll always be the Joker in my head. It's just like every time I see Tom Hanks, I think of Big. Michael Keaton will always be Batman. One of my best friends saw it though and said, "Ledger makes Nicholson look like a gay clown in this one." My answer to him was, "You mean Nicholson wasn't playing a gay clown?" Don't get me wrong, I've already said that he IS the Joker, to me, but even when it first came out, I thought the Joker was...a little fruity. Perhaps a friend summed up this movie best, "It's Batman for grown-ups." I totally get that. The original is very comic-booky. What could have been an asweome scene, and the end when Nicholson falls off of the building and the laugh box is going, could have scared the shit out of me as a child. Instead, it sticks in my mind as a slightly creepy but mostly silly scene. As for Burton, it's sad that you feel that way. I think he's got a vision that works well for what he does. I admit that Willy Wonka is one of my favorite movies and I was terrified when I found out that it was being remade. As much as I love Burton, I was worried that it wouldn't be as good as the original.I went and sat with a bunch of annoying children and saw it at the IMAX though, because I wanted to be able to take it all in. I love them both in their own ways. I had to look at it not as a remake, but as a completely different movie. Besides, with Tim Burton now in Shinedown, it's required to like him! Hehe I don't want to see this movie though. Not because of my views on the old Batman--that has nothing to do with it. To be quite honest, I'm just not a comic book fan in general. The movies just aren't my thing. I'd much rather curl up and watch Donnie Darko repeatedly. Also, I think I agree on the Will Ferrell thing. He's kind of annoying. But hey, apparently someone out there likes him. If they didn't, he wouldn't still be making movies. |

Always a fun activity seeing that every time I watch it at least I always find something new out about the movie. But to the topic I went and saw it today (been following the movie ever since production was announced)...and I was not in the least bit disappointed. This was easily one of the best movies I have ever seen. I too thought Nicholson was Joker and that the first Batman is still pretty damn awesome (I will only accept that one, the one with catwoman/penguin as valid movies) but despite the fact it felt comic booky, it still was way too off the storyline. I am just personally a Christopher Nolan fan. And its not just that Heath did such an amazing job, the way his part was written too was so intricate. His mass acts of terror became social experiments that really even made me question my own ways of thinking. I think Christian Bale should get as many props as well though. He just seems to take the role and make it so much more fluid than anyone else ever has (with comedy though, Adam West still takes the cake for sure) White lights. Train wreck. Y'see...madness, as you know, is like gravity. All you need is a little...push... -Joker |

You can be my new friend. No one ever seems to know about Donnie Darko and it really is an amazing movie. I always tell people that they have to watch it more than once to understand it. The first time you're lost, but the second time it makes more sense. That and I LOVE Frank. He scared the shit out of me the first time through but now?
