Its the morning after the show so I decided to post.

Halestorm was impressive. Lizzy has a Janis Joplin-esque howl and is VERY SEXY. A talented band for sure.

Evans Blue was decent. I like the single "Cold", but the singer's voice is a little high-pitched live. They were pretty good.

Trapt was amazing. The band was full of energy and the sound was spot-on.

Shinedown was great for the most part. I would say that half the show the sound mixing was sub-par. Brent sounded AMAZING half the time, and you could barley hear him on other songs, or when he was talking. The band its self sounded tight.

One poster from the Cleveland show said that Brent seemed pissed off. Well, maybe he is in a bad mood because he didnt seem that up beat in Detroit either. Dont get me wrong, he was VERY nice to us. Saying "Detroit made Shinedown" (we were playing SD songs heavily before other cities, SD music sells here better than other places, and that is a fact). BUT..... he had a negative edge to his voice as well.

I couldnt make out every word he was saying because his mic was not clear. So forgive me if the guys from SD read this. But Brent said something about us being "dead" and "other people are talking about" us. I took it as "People from other parts of the country thing Detroit sucks". It is a negative view of our city. Not by SD because Brent said we were "more alive" than any city he had played. I was surprised to hear him bring up our image like he did. Usually people dont say that to your face. But he meant nothing by it, and complimented us afterwards.

The songs that sounded great were Heroes, Buring Bright, Save Me, I Dare You, 45, Simple Man and Trade Yourself In. The other songs suffered from muffled or muted vocals, Including my favorite Fly From The Inside.

Also, a side note. Jasin looks a little odd without his big, burly beard. i think he needs to grow it back because he looked bad ass with it.

That's your opinion. My opinion is that I think he looks better without the beard. Razzer

I too was at the concert in Detroit and agree that there were problems with the sound system. I don't think it was all due to the bands though. Harpo's has a lousy sound system and its a small hall with poor acoustics. But the bands were still awesome!

Hey guys!

I was there too! I missed Halestorm AGAIN! Mad Evan's Blue was great. Trapt kicked ass. Shinedown was totally amazing, as I knew they would be. Wink I had a hard time understanding Brent while he was speaking too. I agree that it was the sound system. Brent said something after the show that there was a lot of feedback and thought he went deaf at one point. Thank God he didn't! LOL! I totally LOVED every minute of the show! I miss them terribly now! Frowner Gonna try to go to the Lansing show. I don't think I'll make it til September! LOL!

OH! I agree that Jasin looks better without the beard. He has such a striking face! Thud!

LONG LIVE SHINEDOWN!!

A lot of the difficulties you may have had hearing was in the sound system it's self. I was down front and had mostly sound stage, yet I could hear him fairly well. Sometimes a room will eat up the sound no matter what the person is doing.

Zach brought this up in the other thread about the so called bad mood. Let's put yourself in someone else's shoes. When you are touring daily waking up in different part of the country, being woken up to do radio/phone interviews as well as acoustic things, on top of no sleep and trying to please everyone sometimes it gets to you. It's a part of the rock n roll life style. Yet he's only human. I can only speak for myself but I know once in a while you are entitled to be in a pissy mood. We are only human after all!!!

The crowd was insane! I loved watching everyone going nuts for the guys. Only bad part was the parking issues. I so hate parking at Harpo's!

Totally agree with you that Harpo's parking sucks! You have to get there the day before the show to get a decent spot! LOL!

Learn from the master about parking Smiler There is a dollar store across the street from Harpo's. I always park there. Its free. Never got a ticket. I pull in 5 minutes before doors open. Walk across the street, hop in the SHORT line and Im inside in 10 minutes.

Maybe I shouldnt give this secret away. But were all friends here. Im about the only car @ the dollar store after the show so I think Im the only one that does it.

BTW, someone said the faulty mic Brent was using was due to Harpo's old equipment. I want to point out that every other band sounded fine. If faulty equipment was the case Trapt wouldnt have sounded ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. And well, Trapt didnt have those problems. I enjoyed every band, but Trapt had the best sound overall. I could hear every word the singer said clear as day.

Thanks for the parking tip! I ended up parking at a Chinese grocery store down the street. Had to pay 10 bucks. Last time, I didn't get there til 8:30 and had to drive up and down the street til 9 so I could park at some store after they closed. That's why I missed Halestorm the first time. At least a got to see the end of Silvertide's set. LOL!

About Brent's mic, he said the feedback was so bad at one point, he couldn't hear his voice. Maybe that was the problem. I could understand him when he sang, I just had trouble understanding him when he spoke.
