Shinedown Cancel Show; More Expected
Shinedown will not be performing tonight at their scheduled show in Orlando, FL after blood clots were found in front-man Brent Smith's arm and neck. Guitarist Jasin Todd told WJRR's Buckethead that Smith will be in the hospital for 3-5 days. Additional cancellations are expected.

..man this blows...they are supposed to be here in memphis next friday!

i'm sorry...i just noticed there were more posts about this...

First Silvertide canceled the Memphis show, and now it looks like Shinedown will too, I really hope Brent gets better before next Friday, Shinedown is the main reason I'm goin to the concert.

u have to keep brent in mind... this wasn't planned, i would be upset too but more upset if brent wasn't alright, and im sure hes going to be, but it will take some time

First of all let me introduce myself to those who do not know me....I am a Cardiac RN....Lets get to business.


A blood clot in the arm and the neck is serious business....first of all why does he have these clots....and are they really clots...We Don't know....Second if a clot breaks loose the first place it will go is the lungs and cause a Pulmonary Embolis or the Brain and cause an Ischemic Stroke.....neither one is good....Third....He can be given blood thinners but these will not reduce the clots,,,,just reduce the risk of acquiring more clots,,,,the thinners also allow blood to becoem thin to flow past he clots that have formed...

Last thing.....vitamin K as quoted by Krippie420 will make the blood thinners not work and Green leafy vegetables makes have Vitamin K which makes blood clot so stay away from the Vitamin k and the spinach........

One more thing....He is going to need alot of time,,,,I mean alot!!!!!!....He will be discharged from the hospital on Coumadin or an equivelent blood thinner and will need to be monitered for a while....High blood pressure can be a problem and the way he sings with the screaming can definately cause problems with more clots....

Sorry to come off so medical but its what I do....I save lives.....

I really hope he will be ok soon. I have tickets for the N0v 13th show with 3DD, but more importantly, I want him to be OK.

Most of the time you can get them from sitting for a long period of time...which these guys do everyday while on the road...other instances are from genetics etc. It is very important to get up and stretch our legs and walk every 2 hours while traveling...this keeps the blood flowing properly.
Also women who take hormones are at a higher risk.

Shinedown is one of my all time faves and i'm really gonna be praying for Brett to recover as soon as possible.I really love the new cd.Every song just touches me in a different way and it feels good inside.So Brett i'll be praying for u buddy and i hope i can see u live real soon and hear that awesome voice you've got.Get well Brett!!

i had tickets to the voodoo lounge show on 11-04 and they said it would be rescheduled on 12-03. anybody know anything about this? also, does anybody know if brent is out of the hosp?this is a very serious condition esp. for someone as young as he is. get well soon brent, your fans are concerned..............kat

I have had a blood clot before....in the leg (side effect of birth control)....I will say....it is PAINFUL! It felt like someone was stabbing me in the leg every 2 seconds with a very sharp knife. I have a high pain tolerance and I was in tears and rated it a 9.5 out of 10.

Brent....get well soon! You are in my prayers.

I was at the concert on Thursday night. I drove over 3 hours for it, then when I get up to the door, I see that Shinedown won't be there. Needless to say, I was VERY disappointed. I just hope they plan on coming sometime soon.
