What an amazing show! Sorry to all the people that went to Manchester the night before, if you thought that was a good show, Nottingham was twice as good.
Counterpoint were good, they're in a group of good up and coming UK bands. SOiL certainly got the crowd going, their new album is awesome and they sound good live too! Shinedown were really fired up, and had the packed Rock City, well, rockin'! The set list was the same as Manchester with one exception, instead of the "I Wish I Would've Known You Better" prelude to Call Me, we got an acoustic version of I Dare You, one of my top 5 SD songs. Brent was in top form, his voice sounded better than the night before, and he had the crowd literally in the palm of his hand! There were 3 funny things for me: 1. When the stage was being prepared for SD, the roadie who I can only assume is Brent's guy was meticulous in positioning the flight case center stage that Brent stands on, as soon as he'd turned his back one of the Rock City crew took it away to be loaded in the truck with SOiL's gear, the look on Brent's mans face when he realised was a picture! 2. During If You Only Knew I spotted Eric's tech guy singing the song to Brent's guy, with a loving look on his face haha! 3. Brent stumbling off the aforementioned flight case and off the stage! He was ok and got back on stage and got the case and put it in the crowd so that it got surfed! When it was returned his guy repositioned it in place, Brent immediately kicked it off stage! One gripe, nothing to do with the band tho. Some guitar plecs that were being thrown into the crowd during the show fell short and landed between the barrier and stage, one member of the security crew was there in a flash picking them up and pocketing them, even, at one point picking one up off the stage! I guess they'll be on ebay at some point. Overall tho, a fantastically enjoyable night, cant wait for Monday and Sheffield now! I dare you to tell me to walk through fire......... |

lol I never even noticed Brent fall off stage...
I was right at the back this time as I fancied getting into the crowd (I was up against the stage at Leeds Cockpit being flicked with Eric's sweaty hair lol) and as Im so short I could barely actually see the stage.. Was an excellent gig as usual... I saw the guys supporting Disturbed last October, then in Manchester in January, Leeds in May and then again last night. Im tempted to grab a last minute ticket to Sheffield on Monday.... hehe but Im afraid it might now spoil what was an awesome gig at the BEST rock and metal venue in the country!! A lass in front of me kept winding me up by going on about how Brent was talking too much between songs.... On one hand, I felt like shouting at her to shut the f*** up but on the other hand, I dont remember Brent ever talking SO much and between EVERY song, so maybe she had a point lol |

Hey Clare, I was at Leeds in June (not May :P), and was possibly stood right next to you at the front. I had a couple of short(ish) girls on my left - one of them might have been you~!

I thought Brent talked more the night before in Manchester, I think he does it to preserve his voice.

I think there are a bunch of reasons. He likes to talk of a bit to save his voice, the band likes to jam, the stories help SELL~ the songs, it gets the crowd into the palm of his hand... you know, a bunch of stuff.

About all the talking between songs - I was looking foward to seeing SD for the first time. Jeez that guy can talk a pile of s**t. Couldn't stand it - left after 5 songs!!!
Soil were so much better - get out there play the music thats what counts!! |
