First off let me just say that I'm a huge fan of Shinedown and the music they have created over the years. I've seen Shinedown live 5 times now in 3 different cities, and I'm sure that there will be many more to come.

This past Sunday at Pointfest Brent did not give his top performance. I could tell as soon as he started speaking that he was very hoarse so I knew that he was not going to be able to hit the range of notes that he normally does, which was a little bit of a let down because they were the only band that I really wanted to see that day. For myself having seen them multiple times and knowing first hand Brents amazing vocal ability I just chalked it up as a bad night and knew that it just happens from time to time, but for the ones that happened to be there to witness Shinedown for the first time it may have left them with a bitter taste in their mouth, which brings me to the point of all of this.

I think that if you know ahead of time that you're going to have trouble singing in key and hitting some vocal ranges you should simply say so at the beginning of the show. Must of us are very well aware of the tremendous stress you guys are under with performing night after night, and would most likely be very understanding if you were to state that this may not be your best performance. That way those fans that are just hearing you for the first time don't leave thinking that you sound like that all the time. Just a thought.

Other then that you guys as always put on an amazing show, and Brent even with your hoarseness you are always one of the greatest frontmen of all time, and I thankn you from the bottom of my heart for all you have given us.

Even if Brent can't hit the high notes, after months and months of touring, he still delivers his emotion and message in every word that leaves his mouth. I saw them Saturday at the KY state fair, and I'll admit, he didn't hit the notes on the albums, but if that is what you want to hear, pop it in the stereo and give it a jam. That is what is special about live performances, no two are the same. Also, it is my understanding that they still have plenty of more shows on this tour, well into 2010. He has to sing the same songs 5 to 6 times a week, so i think changing the dynamics breaks up the monotony.

They are up to about 110 concerts for this year, but if you add the ones form last year, which they did not take a break in between, we are looking at way over 250 and more in concerts:

Posting this for the 3rd time, please take note:

So far this year Shinedown has done 104 shows world wide, with 57 still on the burner. That is a total of 161(rounded down, so possible more) shows for a year and also does not include the dates last year that bleed into this years. That leaves 204 days of no shows, but the driving and traveling is not calculated in so we are looking at maybe 180 not spent on the road, big maybe. But that is also not including studio time and other Shinedown related promotions(Radio Spots, Meet and Greets, so on). I have 110 days off in a year, 52 weeks of weekends off and holidays. If there is any lack in strength behind, and you feel disappointed by it, your true concern should be how hard they are working to bring this music to you, and how their health is. That they are so willing to sacrifice their bodies to give it to you. They go through many different states and countries with changing climates. So many factors go into it. I am sure that they are just as upset not to bring 100% every time, but I know that they do all they can!!!! I have not seen a band do this much touring in, well, ever I think. My heart goes with anyone that has that much deep down....

P.S. They also stay after at concerts and hang with fans, I was with them on Aug. 21/22 until around 2:30 in the morning, that is devotion....

The Europe dates I bet will round out 2010. So you can add those and that should be the amount for the year. Should be close to 200.

I just spent the last two hours trying to make sense of some budget vs actual spreadsheets here at work... My brain just melted when I tried to read what you wrote about the calcs on how many show dates, etc. But, heck, you're probably right, esp. when you add in those upcoming Europe dates.

Hey Zach {{waves}}!

Count me in the "I don't give a rat's ass how Brent's voice is sounding - I'll still be there" crowd.

Dude...I've been to 37 Shinedown shows and I can tell you that their not all gonna be pitch perfect like the album. When you do 3 or 4 shows in a row...your voice tends to start to crack alittle. But Brent still by far has always delivered the best shows i have ever seen...even when he's hoarse...he puts on the best show he knows how to deliver and it's a damn good show at that. What do you want Brent to do..come out on stage and say...'Hey guys..listen...I've done 3 shows in the last 3days...this will be show #4...my voice is alittle off so I might not sing so well tonight...please forgive me." LOL..your so funny if you think something like that will ever happen...name one singer that has done that...that's like sayin..."I don't know why your here...my voice sucks tonight...please go get your money back....I'm not gonna sing tonight." BLAH...your not always gonna be happy with what you hear and see...but why do you gonna complain about it...give the guy a break...give the band a break.

But you know like they say...Opinions are like A-holes....EVERYONE has them!!!!!! Some just stink worse than others!!!! lol

I thought it was the best performance this year and its my 4rth much like rolla needed more shinedown and a lot less staind or puddle of mudd. Everyone in shinedown left it all on the stage. Stained singer look like it was the last place he wanted to be. Thought maybe some of Brent would have rubbed off by now.

Shaun Morgan (Seether).

I don't find it unreasonable at all to let the audience know some thing like that, especially if after announcing that your not feeling too well you still kick ass Smiler
