Ok so I'm going to the Shinedown concert in Detroit, Michigan at the Michigan State Fair on 8/24 and like I said in my other post it's gonna be my first Shinedown concert. But a friend of mine keeps on telling me and saying how bad the Michigan State Fair is and how it's supposedly in bad part of town and all this bad stuff happens there and how I should leave my wallet back at the hotel room or at least carry it in my front pocket at least and also according to him if you where the wrong colors you could get hurt and beat up, so now idk of i should believe him or not, but has anybody on here ever been there and could u help me out please and thank u or at least give me some insight on it, or are any of u going to this concert either....? thank u very much once again it's greatly appreciated, thank u.....

I don't know about the area, but you should always keep your wallet in your front pocket at any big event where close to a lot of people, getting your pocket picked can happen anywhere like that. And if your wearin Shinedown gear you should be alright gang-color wise i don't concert tshirt will attract any ire.

my sister's fiance is from detroit. i asked his advice and he said if you're not from the area you probably shouldn't go. it's in the straight up hood and a lot of peeps get popped out there. BUT he said it's a pretty cool event to go to if you do.
being from philly myself i think i would say the same if you're lacking on the streetwise side. people pick up on vibes pretty quick and if you walk around like a scared little kid then you might get messed with.

are you going with other people or alone?

I'am only 17 so my dad is going with me and a friend of mine may be coming to but were just going to the concert and thats it, and since were coming from upstate new york, were leaving early in the morning on the day of the concert and staying in a hotel and coming home the day after the concert so we'll probablly just being hanging around the hotel for the most part along with the concert mainly to....

oh and i've got a shinedown t-shirt i'll be wearing to, it's black with a picture of the band on the front that says shinedown in big letters and i'll probablly just be wearing shorts to....

well if you're going to be with your dad i wouldn't worry too much then. have fun at the show.

Glad you're going to the show! I don't think you have anything to worry about. I've been to the State Fair twice by myself and didn't have any problems. Didn't see anything bad happen either. I've been to Harpo's by myself too, which is in a way worse part of town than the State Fair and no problems there either. Always good to be cautious though! Can't wait to meet you!

Let me rephrase. "gangster" black people. i have a friend that dresses emo... he told me that n i didnt believe him but we were on the west side one night and they would talk to me but not even look at him.
