would it alright to take an actual video camera to a Shinedown concert or is that not a good idea?

most venues dont allow cameras at all, and im sure the band wouldnt want you to post new songs that may not be in their final forms. this is just what i would think though.

its up to the venue really. some places i have been let you have cameras as long as you dont have a flash on them. your best bet would be to ask the venue, call them or something, or see if its posted online.

Brent told me Friday after the Myrtle Beach show that while he was cool with people recording Shinedown shows, he did NOT want shows from this mini-tour recorded because of the unreleased material.

After the new album comes out, who knows ... Cool

A lot of digital cameras have a video option, which is what a lot of people use when we see unreleased songs.

But really, what is the point of filming a show with a digital camera? I guess something is better than nothing, but if you're going to film, do it right!

You'd be surprised how good of video a newer digital camera can do. I have video from last year's Wisconsin State Fair that looks and sounds really good for a digital camera. And with the size of memory increasing, it's to the point where you could film an entire concert relatively easily. On the flip side, a smaller camera is easy to sneak into a venue, they'll never notice a small, properly placed camera as they check people as they go into the venue.

It's strange how some bands are against people recording unreleased material while other bands support it. Nonpoint played a new song back at Band Camp and someone recorded it (as did I, but my camera's dumb and will only do one minute clips) and Nonpoint posted the youtube link on their myspace because they wanted fans to see it.

What a wicked game to play
To make me feel this way
What a wicked thing to do
To make me dream of you
