hey guys. great show last night at the Highline but why no encore? packed house, enthusiastic crowd everyone was expecting another song or two.
it was my 1st time seeing you guys and you all are amazing. But you really left your fans hanging wanting more (it was only about 10:20 when you wrapped up by Big Apple standards thats when things are barely getting started) anyway it was a terrific night but it was sad to hear so many grumbles by other disappointed fans about the lack of an encore. I just thought i'd ask and give you all a chance maybe to explain before i decide to go out and spend money on another ticket. let me add that i'm in my 40's and have been going to concerts in the city since my early teens (too many to count) i dont think i've ever been to a show with no encore when the crowd has rec'd a band as well as the one did last night. |

obviously the ego has control of those who managae the boards as well...and doesn't like blows to said ego

While everyone's entitled to their opinion, bashing of the band and/or band members isn't tolerated. Period. Any post doing that will be deleted. If it continues, the guilty party will be removed from the boards. Everyone has had a chance to say what they wish with no consequences, but that time's over. Simple fact is that regardless of what anyone thinks they know, no one knows all of the facts except for those directly involved. The band doesn't come and tell you how horrible you are (collective you, not specific to anyone) and all that we (the mods) ask is that you have the same respect for them.
That aside, the post in question would do nothing but start yet another bitch fest and that's really not necessary. If you wish to continue this conversation, feel free to PM me. Grayguitar,  Don't say that! He may eat more Twinkies and kick more babies!

this is specifically why i asked the question and hoped that a band member or someone 'in the know' would answer it publicly.
because its true, we dont know that facts. and yeah its sad to see a show that was killer (it was killer..they rocked) but then have fans walk out pissed off. and looking at the myspace comments its clear that ppl didnt understand why they didnt come back out. altho it sounds ridiculous the fans do take it somewhat personally when they're on their feet, cheering and screaming and the band leaves. its kinda the way a band says 'thanks for buying the ticket and rockin with us tonight..' i mean lets face it we're not talkin about questioning the queen of england here. just regulars boys in a band who we enjoy and support. bleh anyway. i still love them. i'd love them more if i understood what happened. sorry if my question caused controversy but truly 'no encore' and no explanation here to other disgruntled fans here is the core of the controversy not the question itself. |

That's fine, and totally understandable. Your original post though was not so much a question about the show but more a personal attack on a band member. That's the only reason that it was deleted. You last two people,

i just want to say that i saw Shinedown 11 days ago. after the show the band was outside the tour bus and there were no egos there. they talked to every fan they signed t-shirts and took pictures with the fans. shit Brent and Barry even autographed my Shinedown tattoo on my foot. then they came out to the parking lot and signed my friends Shinedown sticker on her car. i have seen them 12 times and they are always so kind to their fans. i don't know what happened in NYC but iam sure there was a good reason for no encore.

Well, They cut 3 songs at Highline compared to the last show I saw. Left Out, I Dare You, and Burning Bright. But, They didn't spring it on us as a surprise though. Brent said, he had to make last minute changes to their set-list, right on stage. What if there was an emergency? You just have to trust that whatever reason they did it for, it was an honest one and not just a reason to leave. I mean, they could have walked off early and left us with nothing. I'm not angry at all. I trust it was for a good reason and, I still love the band the same.

mel just to clarify my original post was never deleted and i was NOT the one who made any comment or remark regarding any member of the band. it was a poster after me that did so. pls get your facts straight. i know very little about shinedown or any of the members to make such a comment. |
