There is a small article in the new Revolver Mag. on shinedown. I took very important time out of my exciting life to write it all for you...Your Welcome. Smiler

After two successful albums, Jacksonville, Florida, quartet SHINEDOWN knew they wanted to evolve; they just didn't know how. In January 2007 they experimented with downtuned thrash riffs, but that didn't feel right. So,they tried other styles, including syrupy pop, middle-American rock, and soul before incorporating all of it within the melodic, Southern hard-rock framework they've been exploring since their 2003 platinum debut, Leave a Whisper. "We wanted to be different, but we still wanted to be us," explains singer BRENT SMITH. " It took a while to find out exactly what that meant." The band spent nine months writing more than 60 songs for the as-yet-untitled album, then entered the studio with producer Rob Cavallo(Green Day, My Chemical Romance) to record 16 tracks.

"The album is going to be really heavy, but there are way more peaks and valleys than on the other two records," Smith says. "And it's not just sonically heavy; it's also pretty intense lyrically." He's not kidding. "Devour," Shinedown's first political song, is about ending the war in Iraq, and "If You Only Knew" is the group's first love ballad. "I" wrote that when my girlfriend was pregnant," says Smith. "I always said I would never do a love song, but i guess that's because I never had the emotions before to do one." The disc is tentatively scheduled for release in spring 2008.

Aw. Thank you.

The part about the ballad makes me want to hug my Reverend. Really.

That's a pretty good article. I might go get it.

Guess now we can maybe call him Papa Smith...LOL...since it was written in a major release mag. I'm guessing to that he changed the title of the song cause he told me and Cindy(80'sLady) that the song was called "I of the Hurricane" or maybe that is a different song..hmmm..hopefully we'll find out soon.

Yep that's the song that made me cry! Not only is the song very beautiful, Brent was just so excited & proud to play it for me. It's obvious that he's in a happy place right now. Smiler

i was thinking the same thing Dewey said. and i said that to my son. he said "the crow and the butterfly" is more like a lost love song. and the other must truly be a love song. i can't wait for the new songs to come out my other cd's are worn thin. i have listened to them way too many times, if that is possible.

^ I agree with that. He must be talking about a true love song because almost every song he writes has some sort of love in it.
