They wanted it to sound like a warzone and it completely does. It has the war snaredrums in beginning with the epic intro. It has the "machine gun" guitar, like in "One" by Metallica. The cymbal pattern in the chorus is like the chaos all around, with bombs and shells going off. And then I LOVE the second verse with the "BANG BANG BANG!!!"s. Finally, it's just relentless...like a true warzone. There aren't any breaks.
Can you tell I really dig it?

I had a fun experience tonight!! I called the radio station to request Devour (since I haven't heard it on the radio yet) and all calls are recorded.. so about 35 minutes later.. I heard myself on the radio requesting Devour!!! The DJ Dustin also likes the song and he is a fan of the boys as well... we chatted abit about the song and the guys..Part of our convo was on the air then he played the song!!.. After the song Dustin mentioned the new album and release date...It was great!!.. Gotta love Xtreme Radio 107.5.. They also play a Devour snippet with Barry saying "This is Barry from Shinedown" just before the snippet!..

On Amazon they had a description of the CD. It talked about Devour and said this, "The record opens with lead single "Devour." Its heavy onslaught of ripping guitars and relentless drums would not sound out of place on a Guitar Hero soundtrack." Maybe a little hint or foreshadowing? Any thoughts?
