OK, so I was listening to 95.1 for the August Fest announcement at 7:35am.

Much to my surprise...SHINEDOWN was the first band announced. WOOHOO!! Sat, Aug 9th at the Lake County Fairgrounds, Grayslake, IL. There will be two stages (there was only one last year). Tickets on sale May 17th. More bands and ticket info to be announced soon. (Why cant they just give it all to us now?! HAHA)

Also, not only will Devour be played today at noon, it will be played every hour after that.

Then around 7:45am Brent was on the phone! WOOHOO!! He was on for about 15 mins including a short break where the DJ played Save Me.

As I was listening, I was trying to remember everything Brent was talking about since I was driving to work and couldnt really write stuff down.

So here goes:

Brent commented how EARLY in the morning it was but that he had just had a 5 cups of coffee. It sounded like he had just woke up! hehe

Brent mentioned Devour was the very first political song they had ever written. That it was insipired from the trip they had taken to Iraq a couple years ago. He commented about all the different age, race, etc people he had met and how they were all desensitized and didnt understand why they couldnt go home.

He said the song was basically his feelings about Bush's time in office. He said he hoped Bush would hear it and would want to talk to him about.

He said there were no other "political" songs on the album. He also mentioned listening to the new album was like a maze and it was also a roller coaster ride. The DJ mentioned something about a "theme" style record and Brent said they didnt start out to create a it like that but it just ended up that way. He also mentioned that he hoped people would not listen to the first song and then skip to around.

He mentioned someone about the title but now I cant remember what that was about.

The DJ asked about working with Rob Cavella(sp?). Brent said when the two met, he only had 3-4 songs. Rob asked "What kind of record are you looking to make?"

Now, I cant remember his exact words, but it was something like, Brent told Rob he wanted to make the kind of record that when he was dead and gone from this Earth that people would say "that was an album that had to be made."

He said, personally, he feels the final product is exactly what he set out to create.

He also commented on how the first album had that nu-metal sound and that the second was more stripped down. He said THIS IS NOT STRIPPED DOWN. It's a BIG PRODUCTION.

The DJ mentioned their past crazy touring schedule (of not being home much). Brent talked about how much he still loves playing live and being on the road. How he feels he is still the same person that he was when the band started. How they pride themselves on being a great live band. He also mentioned he had a son 4 months ago and that leaving to go play now would be harder since he son was the light of his life, but he still loved what he was doing.

The two new guys were mentioned. Brent said the new bass player (his name escapes me now) is a maniac (well, he used some word like that). And a really great guy. The DJ asked about Nick from Silvertide and what was up with that band. Brent said he couldnt say anything about that and the DJ would have to talk to someone in Silvertide. Bottom line though, Brent said "I asked Nick and he said yes." He then said to the DJ, "If you get a chance to talk to Nick, you can ask him."

When asked about tour plans: Touring dates from May 9th thru the end of May would be festivals. Then they are taking a 5 day break to rehearse for the upcoming FULL PRODUCTION tour. (he didnt let out any surprises). Then the tour would start again June 6th.

He said to keep watching the website and myspace closer to those dates for more tour details.

He also mentioned the album would be released in 16 countries so they expected to be doing a lot of traveling.

YEAH!!!

T~

They just said on 95.1 that Shinedown single will be played at 1. Hopefully that was a goof. Technically they're gonna play it at one either way.

Heh, for me, it will be at 1 anyway, because I'm east coast. ONE HOUR FTW.

This is amazing, I can't wait for the final release. Personally I can't see Bush as a headbanger, prob can't figure out how to. I remember when he first came to office I was like "he's not that dumb" but he told the f'in Pope "Awesome speech!"

Well you know Restless, awesome is a word for full of awe, and can be used in very serious instances. It was adopted as a synonym for cool in the 60's. Not that I dissagree with you. Razzer

They are playing it every hour...they started with the first airing at Noon, next time will be 1pm, next time 2pm, and so on.

Not sure what time they will stop playing it. Oh and caller 10 when they do play the new song will win 2 tickets to August Fest.
