I had the chance to talk with Brent Smith last night and I asked him... "I heard you guys filmed a show for a DVD."

Brent follows by saying, "Yes we filmed a show, but it's not for a DVD. MTV2 came in and filmed our show for an hour long concert special that will debut between July and August."

Keep watching, spots for the special should be on TV within the next month.

"The whole show was filmed but the special will only include the songs off 'The Sound of Madness' plus performances of '45' and 'Save Me'."

EDIT: This show will not be released to DVD. I asked Brent if he had plans for a full length DVD, and he said... He wants to wait until the end of 2010 before he records a show. He is looking to perfect the tour and hopefully bring in a crowd of 15,000 or more for the concert DVD. THEY ARE GETTING THERE, NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT!

and, why is this bullshit man?? lol.. I think it's awesome. 10 songs will not fill an hour. 16 songs at a show barely fills an hour and 20 mins. Besides, Brent's been doing alot less talking this leg. They are performing bigger sets and he doesn't have time to put in all the speaking. It's a nice thing they did for us.

i would assume the special is about the new album. in which case it makes sense to cut out (most of) the other songs. new album, plus the biggest hit from each of the other two.

Dear mr. candle, I know the setlist. Please read this carefully! They didn't perform just those songs at the show.. They did a full set. They are just using those songs in the special. Why are you having such a big problem with this? You'll get your damn DVD, just not this instant. Thank you klaustrophobia. Btw, This is supposed to be a good thing. I'm very excited. You should be more appreciative. It's quick, professional and free. Thank you Shinedown.

Well I must say this is a huge crush for me being that i was at the show that was taped. Brent even did an interview on the radio saying that they chose atl & why for the dvd. Also all night they were hying us up saying this is the filming of the dvd. If they chop the set list up there is no way to capture the full effect of the show. But i will keep an eye out & Thanks for sharing.

maybe they made the call after the filming and reviewing the material.

Atlantic probably didnt want them to put it out yet, they probably want more songs to go gold and sell and get tons of radio play.
Then put a DVD out when the band is done and ready to record a new record, you know?

What a bummer. This is cool and everything, but I was so excited for a dvd. The set list was perfect in my opinion, given that they are touring for The Sound of Madness. I would maybe substitute Begin Again, Lost In The Crowd, In Memory, or Shed Some Light, but of course they are gonna have more SOM songs than old ones. Now I'll never get to see the Save Me prelude that was supposed to be so amazing . I guess we can thank Project 961 for getting us all excited about a dvd. They had it on their website that SD was filming their new dvd. Thanks a lot fuckers. I'm still excited to see this on MTV2, but filming an entire show and not releasing it as a dvd is just wrong. I feel bad for those of you that went to the show thinking it was gonna be the dvd show.

I knew they were airing some songs for MTV2, but Brent told us it was only going to be 4 songs. I was so excited that this could have been the DVD and that show was the best SD show I have ever seen. Cool that it is being released, but wish it was the entire set on a DVD or a blu-ray. Dammit.

Maybe they decided to air the show as a special instead of just 4. Brent said that it was an hour long and would include all the sound of madness songs plus save me and 45. I think this is better than DVD for this moment because we'll have it in a month and it's free. just DVR it or tape or if you have the technology. Record it to DVD. LOL. Either way it's fantastic.
