Well i hate to say it, im still a big wrestling guy, I went to Wrestle mania Last Year in Detroit, Well I went to k mart to get some Magazines, and i just looked through WEE Magazine, I didn't read all of it, but here i got this from WWE.Com
--------------------------------------------------- Meet Shinedown’s lead singer, Brent Smith, the gritty voice behind “Devour,” this year’s Night of Champions theme song. (LISTEN) So, you’re a big WWE fan? Oh yeah. I grew up watching wrestling. I started tuning in back in the days of Jake the Snake, Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan. I loved watching all the Superstars, although my favorite has to be Ultimate Warrior. And, of course, when Undertaker came on the scene, I was all about him. What’s your favorite WWE memory? I know everyone says this, but it has to be watching Hogan bodyslam Andre the Giant at WrestleMania III. My dad ordered the pay-per-view and let me watch it with him, which was a big deal. As a kid, that match was the one I always remembered. Your song “Devour” will be the theme for Night of Champions. Psyched? Man, it’s awesome. WWE has a big pulse, so it needs music that has a heartbeat – intense and aggressive. The fact that our music was chosen means it’s got all these qualities, which is exactly what we’re going for. What can your fans expect from your new album, The Sound of Madness? It sounds like nothing we’ve ever done before, and it’s the most aggressive and biggest sounding record we’ve done. Sonically, I wanted to push the envelope as far as we could. Basically, what I told our producers was, “When I’m dead and gone, I want people to remember that this was an album that needed to be made, that the world said it needed to be done.” And I think that it is. If WWE signed you to a $1 million wrestling contract, what would your name be? I’d be The Reverend, not because I’m religious, but because everyone calls me that when I’m performing. I always make sure the crowd walks out of the arena feeling motivated and positive. So I’d have to wear the spandex version of what a Reverend wears. And your finisher? Oh dang, I think I’d have to go with the Holy Ghost Piledriver! Album Review Shinedown The Sound Of Madness (Atlantic) Shinedown’s third album, The Sound Of Madness, is a big, brash, chest-thumping rock throwdown that, at its best, approximates what Guns N’ Roses or Metallica might’ve sounded like had they never grown old and sad. Guitars thrash and stomp through the title track and the snarling “Sin With A Grin,” while “Devour” and “The Crow & The Butterfly” channel Use Your Illusion-era GNR in all their unapologetic grandeur. The power ballads, particularly “What A Shame,” veer disappointingly toward the Nickelback end of the spectrum, and “Call Me” suggests a dangerous admiration for those pretentious a-holes Live, but the low moments are relatively fleeting, redeemed soon enough by a ferocious riff, the crash of drums or frontman Brent Smith’s howl. Guest Music Editor Shannon Moore says: “I’ve only listened to Shinedown a bit, but I really like what I’ve heard. When they covered Skynyrd’s ‘Simple Man’ a few years ago, I thought they got it right on.” ----------------------------------------- I know now, it's not who you are It's who you know And I see clearly now, which way to go I remember the way I fell from above And I recall the way I was Formally/Apodrocks www.myspace.com/apod44 www.youtube.com/user/Sanitaruim444 |

That's a cool little interview, but calling Live "pretentious a-holes" is very ignorant. I was totally surprised to see them mentioned actually, but yeah, whoever wrote that is a bit of a dick.
The interview also trashes "What a Shame" and "Call Me", which is pretty crap because I think they're too awesome songs. - raymond Wrap me in a bolt of lightning, send me on my way still smiling... |

I don't know... I thought What a Shame sounded much more mature, almost like an older power ballad. Only one I thought sounded like Nickelback was Breaking Inside, and only because they made it sound like a copy of Someday. Oh well.
"Tell my mother, tell my father; I've done the best I can. Make them realize, this is my life. I hope they understand." "Once I knew a preacher - to his faith he said "goodbye"." |

Im glad they bashed a song or too...makes it a legit review instead of the WWE kissing shinedown ass by saying its an amazing CD, they are the best band ect...Makes me think that they really liked the CD

The could have the wrong song when talking about what a shame, a review for us and them that i've seen everywhere online was talking about how they went acoustic with Begin Again, when they clearly meant Shed Some Light, so who knows.
On another note, the Holy Ghost Piledriver, lmao, i love it ******************** We love you, Jasin |

Haha, I'm buying that magazine. While I like Call Me, I can see where they're coming from with WHat a Shame, and can say the same for Breaking Inside. What a Shame kinda does sound like Nickelback, and Breaking Insde sounds like a country song. But I can usually trust WWE Magazine's judgement, and the Brent interview and positive review makes me happy.

Dude...we've only heard 30 second clips. "What A Shame" could suck for all we know. "Call Me" I've heard live, and it has potential for the studio version. But no one has heard anything of much else...I don't know why so many people are judging this entire album from 30 second clips...blows my mind. I also like the fact that the reviewer had the guts to single out a few weaker tracks, but praise the top performers--it does make the review a lot more legitimate, every CD has ups and downs. I'm really looking forward to hearing this album. |
