By now, we have all seen, in person or on youtube, the two new songs. But, my question to all of you is, how do these songs stack up to older shinedown songs that we all know and love? For me I love The Crow and the Butterfly. That's nothing against Junkies for fame, I really like that song, but I think that The Crow and the Butterfly is in a different league. For me it's right up there with I Dare You, Simple Man, 45, and Fly From the Inside. Brent is really in top form on this one because the vocals are just amazing, not to mention Jasin's effortless guitar playing. So, let's hear some more opinions.

i love them both, i really think brent is expanding his lyrical world, where in the past he has written these songs that were full of meaning deep so many words, junkies for fame is flat out balls to the wall, why are we just junkies for fame, its just straight to the point, i can't wait to hear the rest of the new stuff from the growth i already see in b's words it can only get better!

Did you really think this bloody road
would pave the way for you?

Well, I've heard 'Junkies For Fame' both full on and acoustic and I think it's heavier and more raw than what they've done before but that's just me. But 'The Crow and The Butterfly' it amazing and it goes alittle bit back to the LAW album but it's still different and different is GREAT!!!!!

Not that anyone cares but, I think Shinedown has grown. I was very impressed with the songs words and there meaning. If all the songs on the album have the same drift I think there gonna be junkies with fame!

Junkies is definitely harder than other stuff they've done. I was in Rolla, too. Having never heard it before it was hard to listen past the music to hear the vocals so it was easy to hear that the music was fast and hard.

As to the two new songs, I think that The Crow and the Butterfly will do better because it seems to be the trend of the masses to follow famous people religiously and the appeal to Junkies for Fame will be affected by the publics love for everything that is celebrity.

I really don't want to compare these songs to the older stuff yet, because I think I need to hear the entire new album until I can give an opinion on it.

I enjoy the new songs, and I really enjoy "Junkies for Fame." But, I want to hear them with the entire band instead of acoustic.

The new stuff (so far) is great, but I'm gonna wait and see until the new album comes out.

I agree. I would like to hear the original versions of these songs and not the acoustic.

Just to show that it will be about perception, I too was at Rolla and didn't personally think JFF was THAT much harder than things they've done before. It would fit better on LAW, for sure, but not off the charts. My 2 cents. Just the beauty of being at Rolla Smiler
