Ok, I have read and read the lyrics to this song and I have to wonder what it is about......Please help me out and fill me in on this....thanks!!

It's not about the serial killer... I think it's allegorical of a political theme. It's about the war at least.

Son of Sam, Sam as in Government (Uncle Sam). It's about the war, leadership, what the government has done to cover up alot of untold truths about the war, and what he would have done differently if it were up to him. At least thats what I got from it.

I love shinedown more than any other band and I understand what brent is saying in devour and son of sam but......they really should keep their noses out of politics

Wow. Intense. Actually, it is about the government...do those lyrics sound like they have ANYTHING to do with the serial killer...? No...they don't...calm down buddy.

Wow dude, whats with the attack? Listen to the lyrics a little more and look into the meaning behind it. You'll see it better.

"Paint it Black and White... the story is still the same" refers to the government always covering up the truth, or not saying anything about it at all.

"You know the world just ain't right, so tell me who to blame?" Is a very literal statement.

"Burning buildings from above, send their best and send their love."... 9/11/2001.

"Are you afraid your life means less, are you concerned you might be next." The government tends to focus more on supplying foreign countries with food and re-shelter etc, rather than providing for their own citizens. Food and shelter for the poor and homeless. High taxes, bad economy, etc.

"It's too soon for me to tell, if you're in heaven or in hell." Where is the direction this country is going? Are we going to fix our problems and live up to what we stand for? Or, crumble?

There are many other different messages Brent has so brilliantly tried to explain in the song, and I think his words are nothing short of fantastic.

WHAT HE WROTE NEEDED TO BE SAID, whether people wanted to hear it, or not.

im actually not surewhat the songs exactly about..i kinda said that out of anger when the one dude said they need to keep thier nose out of politics..so i dont know why i actually wrote my statement about the what the song is about..because im not actually sure.and i dont want to look like an idiot saying something wrong
