Yeah, you need to meet Brenna. Maybe she doesn't understand what the songs are about, but she loves them. She can pick out Shinedown (or Brent) without even thinking. She knows that voice. She loves that voice. The VERY first thing she saw on TV was a rerun of them being on one of the late-night shows before she even left the hospital. She was only MAYBE a day old, but the sound coming from the TV got her attention and she's never looked back. She loves music more than just about anything. She gets excited when she finds out that we're going to a show. She rocks out harder than most adults when at said show. Besides, music is open to interpretation. Wink

I totally understand what you're saying, but you don't have to understand the meaning to be a fan, you know? You can just enjoy it and love it. Granted, she doesn't say that Shinedown is her favorite, but she does love them and gets excited when a song comes on the radio. From the back seat you hear a little gasp and "Mom! It's Shinedown!" Which is usually followed by her asking when she'll get to see them again, etc.

I get ya. Wink I think my cynical bit comes in because sometimes it just seems like parents forcing favourites on to their children. Like trying to decide what their kids favourite show, music etc is going to be. But in some cases, I know, the kid actually will really dig the stuff. Smiler

Oh, parents definitely mold their kids. I don't force it on her, but she's also not allowed to watch Dora, Hannah Montana, American Idol, or really any of those shows. At this point, she wants to "be on stage like Brent" which is fine. (Yes, I realize that she's only 5 and this will change several hundred times before she finally decides.) She needs to understand that if she really wants to be a musician, it's not going to be handed to her like it is to those fools. She's going to have to bust her ass and work for it. She's lucky enough to have plenty of people around her who can tell her how to do it, and who to talk to, but she's going to have to work for it.

That goes for anything though. No one hands you anything, you have to earn it. So yeah, I may decide what she can and can't watch, but I don't decide what she likes, you know? She likes music that I don't. Wink

I know what you mean, I'm hoping to go to Pharmacy school, love music, play guitar all the time, but it's not in my blood to come up with melodies and guitar riffs. So 9 more years of school.

Rob Cavallo must be proud, haha.

Hey, it's more exposure for em, maybe it gives me a few more record sales.
