I'm not gonna jump on you...I understand your point...but Rob and Mari ARE PA's single biggest supporters...without them, Pets Alive would have closed by now...and 600 more dogs would die each year...without the upcoming benefit, organized by Mari and her mom, Pets Alive would be forced to close their doors November 1...the cost to run the shelter is $40,000 a month...no one can do this alone...I, for one, am very, very proud to help Rob and Mari help Pets Alive keep doing the wonderful work they do....trust me...Rob and Mari don't just talk the talk...they really DO walk the walk.... If you really care about animals, as do I & I'm assuming most Rob Thomas fans do, allow me to make a suggestion. Don't vote Republican this November. Sarah Palin is NOT someone we want in the White House.

Hi guys,
I happened to be checking the site, when I ran across a response to my "Where is the Justice" thread, which is now in the archives. There was a post by a person named Jeannine who apparently likes to go by the name Poisonous Rabbit...hmmm...interesting choice of names. I was appalled and sickened to read her twisted and distorted version of the story. How she claims that these horses, one of which she claims is hers, are healthy and should be returned. And that she believes that Pets Alive is trying to keep them to make money from them. I am so disturbed by this, that I could cry. I myself with Rob have spent hours at Pets Alive visiting with these horses. We've seen them go from a bag of bones, afraid of people coming near them, to happy and content and running over when hearing their names. We've seen Baxter so frail and full of worms that he could barely stand, now standing beside his mommy. He was so malnourished that he is still much smaller than a horse his age should be. But with the help of everyone at Pets ALive, he is coming along beautifully. To say that Pets ALive is trying to profit off these horses is an outrage. They have spent thousands of dollars to save these horses and bring them back to health. In their former life these poor creatures, were forced to work on this "dude ranch", carrying people day in and day out. Without food, water, or a place to sleep. Now you tell me, who was the one profiting off of their misery. Jeannine says she looks forward to the day that Matt from Pets Alive is arrested. Well, they will be arresting Rob and I as well. And we promise that the world will know the truth. We will make sure we have no rest, until they do and these horses are safe. And again, I want to thank all of you wonderful people out there for your continued support. We love you Mari |

This is a reply to Wyler. When I came on the board originally asking for help, it was not for people to give us the money to "save" Carrie and Baxter.
It was for people to take notice of the abuses that go on in this world, and to try to make your own stand, however it may be. Volunteer at a local shelter, sponsor an animal, fight for change in legislation, etc. And yes, you are correct. Rob and I are blessed and we make sure that we try and give back. And if you must know we have offered to buy the horses ourselves, but sometimes things aren't always that black and white. I'm sorry people choose to assume the worse. Mari |

Well that pretty much sums it up right there. If you have no story as you say, you are only here to cause trouble. People have been known too be told to 'Kindly Fuck Off' when doing that |

Couple articles about these horses, from upstate NY newspapers.
http://www.saratogian.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=20018925...dept_id=602469&rfi=6 Neglected horses seized from farm 08/15/2008 Authorities seized 17 malnourished and neglected horses from the Black River Stable in Cherry Plain, Rensselaer County, Wednesday, and animal cruelty charges are pending. According to Brad Shear, the executive director of the Mohawk & Hudson Humane Society, his organization was working with Thelma and Mary Wadsworth for a year trying to improve the conditions of the stable to no avail. "During our investigators' first visit, we gave the Wadsworths a feeding and care plan to improve the condition of the horses," Shear said. "Conditions were poor for these horses a year ago, but over time they were deteriorating." Humane Society investigators visited the stable nearly once a month for a year and gave them a sustainable and workable feeding and care plan. "There horses were far too thin, and there was not appropriate food available on the property," Shear said. "We were hoping the Wadsworths would take care of these issues with our help, but they seemed to ignore the needs of these animals." The horses were voluntarily picked up by multiple equine rescue groups: Horse Feathers Farm in Canastota; Easy Street Rescue in Amsterdam; Equine Emergency Transportation in Dutchess County; and Pets Alive in Middletown. The stable provides trail rides, pony rides at parties and a day camp. "Although the horses were in terrible condition, they appear to have still been in service for the owners to make money on their trail-riding business," Shear said. Animal cruelty charges are pending in the case. - James V. Franco http://timesunion.com/ASPStories/Story.asp?StoryID=712408&LinkFrom=RSS Horse owners accused of neglect Humane society seizes 17 animals it says were malnourished at Berlin stable By PAUL GRONDAHL, Staff writer First published in print: Saturday, August 16, 2008 BERLIN -- Photos of a group of horses and ponies seized from a stable in the hamlet of Cherry Plain show their ribs, backbones and hips standing out on their hides, a topographic map of malnourishment. They are named Clyde and Danny and Carrie and Baxter. They were work animals that had provided pony rides at parties, a day camp and trail rides to generate income for Thelma and Mary Wadsworth, the mother-daughter proprietors of Black River Stable in this rural Rensselaer County town near the Massachusetts border. A total of 17 horses and ponies were seized Wednesday by humane society investigators, who determined them to be malnourished and neglected. A few had lost up to half their normal weight, according to rescue volunteers now caring for them. The owners, who dispute the charges, face up to 17 counts of animal cruelty. "They were bad. One horse was so weak it could barely stand," said Susan Bloser, manager of Horsefeathers Farm in Canastota, Madison County, who is caring for 10 of the animals. "I think the owners were just overwhelmed," Bloser said. "The vet called them emaciated and several of them were in very bad condition, barely standing," said Brad Shear, executive director of the Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society, which conducted the seizure along with State Police. Shear said humane society investigators, acting on a call from a concerned person, began working with the Wadsworths a year ago to help them shape an adequate program of care. "Things got worse, it crossed the line and we had to take action," Shear said. He added that the owners were "resistant" to the suggestions and "angry that someone was telling them what to do." The owners challenged the humane society's version of the events that led to the seizure. "There are two sides to every story," said the daughter, Mary Wadsworth. "This wasn't about the stable. It was a personal vendetta against me." Wadsworth would not elaborate, but said the investigators "showed photos of the three worst ones," including one horse she was treating for Lyme disease. She pointed out that two draft horses and her daughter's dressage horse kept at their stable are healthy equine specimens. Wadsworth denied she was feeding the horses and ponies stale doughnuts and bread in place of costly hay and grain, as investigators charged. "That was used to feed the bears and the horses got into it," she said of the doughnuts and bread. "Nothing is straight with what they're saying. It's a witch hunt." Bloser is feeding the rescued animals carefully, five times a day, with small amounts of special feed, soaked alfalfa cubes, sugar beets and a weight-building supplement. It will take about four months to nurse the horses and ponies back to good health and then they'll likely be put up for adoption, Bloser said. "This is stretching my feed and hay bill, but we believe in no horse left behind," Bloser said. Wadsworth said an angry backlash and threatening calls have convinced her to put the three-year-old business up for sale. "I can't take this anymore. I'm out of here," she said. officially above and beyond i wanted to stop on (cuz i said i would) and give you guys a yell FROM rob, on this six year anniversary of the rob yell. you guys have to be the best fans ever! ... c ya soon! Marisol, You are so right. People just assume they have the whole picture and make assumptions without the full info. It's inspiring that you are using your celebrity status to do some good in our society when so few good things seem to be happening currently. I think your true fans can see through your posts how devoted you and Rob are to helping the animals. Much love, Lynn02 |
