GD'er is someone that posts on the "General Discussion" board.....which is all of us... Smiler

People create an alias because they are too afraid to post under their real name......some alias's have become regulars....lol Confusing? Anyway...they like to stir up sh*t...post controversial things...sit back...and watch sh*t fly! For some reason they get off on it! I think any attention...including negative attention...is something they crave!

Like I said...I wasn't accusing you of being an alias....just wanted to fill you in on why we do what we do...lol

It's really interesting that there are more liberals than conservatives here. I remember a few years ago on the MB20 board going into the Iraq war there were some heated discussions and I believe the liberals were either outnumbered by the conservatives or perhaps less vocal. I remember feeling very much like I was in the minority yelling that the war was a huge mistake! And now, I'm part of the majority. I guess there are different people on this board or maybe some people switched sides. LOL!

I feel like music is universal, and I thought that artists put their music out there for people to enjoy, regardless of who they are or what their views may be. Should I not be able to play matchbox twenty music if I'm with friends that have conservative views different than the band's? This is how this makes me feel. They should view it as a compliment that the people hearing the song are enjoying it (ie the people at the rally or whatever), not what the views are of the people enjoying it. I don't fully understand the laws that say you can't play someone's music in a public place (?) without getting permission. I don't know where that line is crossed from just a group of people enjoying a song, to somehow needing the artist's permission. But yes, if there is a clear law on that, they definitely should follow it. But if that is done properly, why would the artist care who is enjoying their music. I would never think an artist supports a politician just because their song was used as part of a rally of some sort. I would only think that if they personally appeared. I hope it doesn't bother Rob Thomas that I enjoy listening to his music, even though I'm a person who has conservative views, very different from his.

Dear Rob

I think you should actually write those songs and send them to SNL.

Thank you

If Rob were a McCain supporter, I suspect a rather large number of people here would be McCain supporters also.

LOL Jaycee Smiler

Sarah Palin is supposed to be here tomorrow. The rally was originally supposed to be held at an arena on the college campus, but due to the overwhelming interest they've moved it to the parking lot of Bass Pro Shops. Tickets for a sectioned off area went up for grabs at 11AM yesterday and by 8AM the line already had more people in it than they had tickets. I should try to get there and be in the general crowd just to see if they use How Far We've Come or any other MBT or Rt song Wink
