MELTDOWN. BY A MILE. As well as Diamonds did, it should've been the first single. It's the catchiest song on the record, and probably the one with the broadest appeal. Someday would've been nice, but mid-tempo + mid-tempo = meh. The second single needs to be drastically different from the first, and I think Meltdown would do that. And hey, to save time and money, use the "viral" video as the official video when you release it as a single. People would love it.

MELTDOWN! For me, on my first few listens to the album, that was definitely THE stand out track. Now obviously a gazillion listens in, I have grown to love them all in their special ways, but as we're talking about a single release I definitely think Meltdown is a hit Dani x

Love MELTDOWN it has a great vibe to it. SOMEDAY and MOCKINGBIRD are more personal for me. You have a habit of knowing just what to write at just the right time in my life (thanks). Your music is very soothing for me and makes me realize I am not the only one that feels like I do. It's kinda like my therapy. I think MELTDOWN would do great as the next single--it would get lots of air play up beat & catchy. My kids go around singing it from me playing so much. Just my thoughts. I'm sure whatever you choose is going to be a hit. Well good luck Rob.

So many songs, so little to choose from...hmmm...
this is a hard decision, I would go with either GIVE ME THE MELTDOWN or MOCKINGBIRD. These two songs seem to stick in my head a lot.
REAL WORLD '09 is very catch, too. SOMEDAY is also beautiful.
Decisions, decisions!

Rob! Definitely has to be Give Me the Meltdown! Personally I love every single song on the album, but Meltdown needs to be out there as a single for sure!!! Then Mockingbird after Meltdown! Love them all! Thoughts are still with you and your family! luv, Jen quote: Originally posted by rob_thomas: hey guys. just wanted to say thanx for all the kindness you're sending tyler's way. he/we appreciate it. i go back to work next week. i'm off to canada to spread the cradlesong word. wanted to say that the video for meltdown was just a web viral we did and not REALLY the video, because it's not the next single. that said, i really want to hear from you guys what you think the next single should be. we were going to put out SOMEDAY, but i want your feed back, so it's either: SOMEDAY, REAL WORLD 09, GIVE ME THE MELTDOWN or MOCKINGBIRD. atlantic peeps and myself will be listening, so give me your feedback. also, for those who were wondering, my bass player, AL CARTY, WILL be coming back to join me, but i can't thank KONRAD ADDERLEY enough for filling in. he fit in great and is a stellar player! so, that's it. i'm off to australia for press next week, and doing REAL TIME on friday, on my way through, so watch me stick my foot in my mouth once again! cya.
